Young women looking to marry rich - the exponential depreciation

With 100k you have maybe around $5000/month after deductions... that's pretty lofty for a single person, especially living in a rental or relatively affordable condo or something... I wish I had that money when I was single

Sure wouldn't like being married and living in my current house for that much though... it'd be tight. Nevermind kids and all the expenses they'd bring along.

So back on topic: golddiggers should probably seek guys who make 200+

I used to think that making 3 k a month was really baller back when I was in my early twenties... now I look at 5 k a month and I am thinking like that would make me homeless...

Things sure change a lot in 5 - 10 years.

100k especially as a single income isnt huge dollars anymore, consider that the average price of a single detached home in Toronto is 600k plus, and condos are 4 and change.

As well to the point of being op at 25 the chick nearly at the point of diminishing returns. If you were to normalize the rate of return over the next 25 years that's a bad deal. She should have taken the deal at 250k.

Assuming that you are on salary (or otherwise do not have special deductions) and earning indivdually. about 190k in Ontario.

obviously different for small businesses owners, or anyone that does not earn income as an indivdual, such as corporations, trusts and partnerships, NSULCs.. etc.

Also not counting income earned in a registered plan - RRSPs, TFSAs etc.

OH GOD THE QUALIFCATIONS

Federal:

  • 15% on the first $42,707 of taxable income, +
  • 22% on the next $42,707 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $42,707 up to $85,414), +
  • 26% on the next $46,992 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $85,414 up to $132,406), +
  • 29% of taxable income over $132,406.

Ontario:

  • 5.05% on the first $39,020 of taxable income, +
  • 9.15% on the next $39,023, +
  • 11.16% on the amount over $78,043+

So 10K or 120K/annum = aprox 180-190K depending on deductions, RRSPs etc. *keeping in mind there are secondary deductions CPP, EI, etc etc. good times.

You are not counting source deductions...

Hmmm, I have no idea what he would pay in taxes but if its what is listed above I now know that a guy I know on there who has been trying to recruit me makes about $100 an hour. I'm pretty sure he's screwing me over with what percentage he is going to pay me based on this or he's lying about what he makes and who would ever do that!. Also he's not too smart about posting stuff on line...

Red, I find it hard to believe that a guy would lie about his income on a dating website.

On another note, I'm starting to think I should have gone into Law instead of Engineering... maybe it's not too late.

Funny you say that Joe, because I wish the exact opposite.

Just do like me and work in remote areas... sucks if you have a family though.
But at 25 years old I am not complaining about my pay.
