Sunday, around 11:00 am, Hockley Valley Road, east of Hockley General Store
I stopped at the school for a quick smoke. Saw a couple bikes come up a side road and turn west on Hockley. Then a couple more. And more. All told, maybe about a 100 bikes. Traffic on Hockley has the right of way (no stop sign) at that intersection but stopped to let the bikes through, which was very cool of them.
Now the WTF part: I have never seen such a clusterfuk as these bikes. Wobbling through the intersection, bunched up in no discernible formation, some stopping at the stop sign, some going straight through. Taking the corner singly, in pairs and threes. It was ugly and I'm amazed nobody went down. I'm even more amazed people participated in this and stuck with it; I would have hightailed the other way ASAP.
The topper were two vans at the end of the procession which, I assume, were with the bikes. I assume this because afetr the last bike went through, the traffic on Hockley started moving again, only to have both these vans blast through the stop sign and cut off the drivers who had waited patiently for the bikes to clear.
