Yeah you do need plus to play online now. What ppl might of missed is that while Sony is not enforcing DRM they will leave it up to the publishers.

YES, ps4 right now sounds way better than xbox. The things right now that are going for it are the used games and the graphics (which we knew was always better).

In lieu of saying this, there are some things that pick my mind. If we all recall the great PSN hack, where accounts were compromised, will you still trust their security knowing you have to pay for PS Plus? I hope theres in-store subscribtions you can purchase. I dont know if I trust PSN yet to leave my credit card number on there. Also, the price point sketches me out. ps3 was priced higher when it came out but we knew that it was a far superior product. And while the same holds true with these next gen consoles, theyve done the exact opposite and priced it lower than xbox. Hopefully the quality still reflects this. Sony will probably sell these at a loss, similar to ps3. It was only until a couple years ago that ps3 started selling at a profit.

i think the only thing going for me on xbox was MGS5. sad that metal gear didnt make an appearance, i think it is a key cornerstone of playstation. It seems like the presentation was really targetting microsoft, ending e3 with bungie presentation and the kick to the balls on xbox one.

Doubt Sony will make the same security mistake again. A big potential problem for the Xbox 1 is if there is ever a problem with their server, or hacked, you would be unable to play offline games, as it needs to check every 24 hours
 
Just preordered PS4, not preordering a Xbox one. And this from a guy who bought a Wii and Wii U.

Futureshop has a good deal on some games announced at E3, order 3 or more get $20 off each game, not the total, each game. So Watch Dogs, CoD:Ghost and AC4 ordered. May change that though because AC 3 didn't wow me, and the naval battles kinda sucked.

Only ****** thing is can't play CoD with friends who play it on the PS3 if I am playing on PS4. Ah well.

I am opposite of you, I loved the naval battles and wanted more of them. Was a cool new element to the game, and would love a full game of navel battles just like in AC3. Maybe a giant open world around the caribbean or something along those lines.

at no point could you ever play across platforms...

No backwards compatibility so I'll have to keep the PS3 kicking around still...It'll be relegated to being a fancy Blu-Ray player.
 
Sony can suck my balls for the no backwards compatibility. Again. Not all of us are 'gamers' but now all the new stuff or online stuff to play with buddies will mean we all have to be on the same system. If they made the 4 work with 3 games I would have been happy.

Not possible. The consoles use a completely different architecture. The PS3 used a Cell processor and had the Emotion Engine (PS2) CPU chip built in the early models which allowed for 100% backwards compatibility. When they took out the EE chip in the later models they used software emulation which worked for 85-90% of games, then they removed it completely in the slim and superslim models.

The PS4 has completely moved away from the Cell processor for some AMD 8 core CPU making it incompatible; without the inclusion of the Cell CPU which would add costs we lose backwards compatibility. They may have been able to do something via emulation, but I think their whole plan is re-releasing the titles digitally....Then you have all the people complaining about having to buy their games again.

At the end of the day you didn't buy a PS3 to play PS2 games nor would you get a PS4 to play PS3...so think forwards not backwards.
