When my buddies were doing clinical rotations in Chicago and driving back and forth to visit they would bury a quarter or so somewhere in a tin can on the US side. When they were heading back a week or so later after crossing the border they'd go dig it up and have good supply for the 5 hours drive from Buffalo...
