3 hours is not the end of the world, especially if you want an item that can not and will not be shipped to Canada. It took me about three hours to make this pick up but that included a stop for a sit down lunch as well as some looking around Niagara Falls NY. Pretty depressed and not much to see on the US side.
Funny I have never experienced any hassles or major delays at any boarder crossing. Maybe I'm lucky but I have been travelling to the states for over 30 years and have never gotten a hassle, even when i was 18 years old and riding a ratty 1978 GS750E with a kerker exhaust and travelling with a couple of friends on similar machines. I make crossings at least 3 -4 times a season without indecent. I don't think they are goofs, they just have a job to do.
When you were doing that, we didn't have the issues we have today, and of days prior to 9-11
I used to drive to Windsor, grab my cousins and go drinking in Detroit, never had ID, and most of the time too drunk to remember where it was, never a hassle going there or coming back, my cousin in the days before would not even stop at the booth, they were already waving him on, they knew his car his face his plate, he was across the border 3-4 times a week, come forward to today.....no more of that, they stop him each time, they say their piece and off he goes, same as when he comes back....
it used to be good in the old days.....LOL
