There is No beauty here.

No God.

No inspiration.

In Barcelona, you're constantly surrounded by beauty, beautiful architecture, beautiful cities, beautiful art, beautiful girls.
As you stand there, in awe of the beauty and majesty all around you, you are reminded of god , and you feel small, humbled and somewhat insignificant, and at the same time you are inspired.

The old trope of the Italians and their motorvehicles being inspired by beautiful women, definitely has some truth to it.
You feel inspired surrounded by beauty, and beautiful women.

Here, everything looks the same, everything is sanitized, and plumb and square, and cold and grey and ugly.
The sun is rarely shining, and the girls are ugly.

I am convinced the cure for depression is sun and beautiful women.
You cant convince me otherwise.

My wife made very similar comments when we moved here. Maybe except this one.

About a month ago, we went to Dallas, and she mentioned how similar it was to Toronto.

For us, Toronto seems bland compared to Mexico City. It seems to lack architectural diversity, vibes, public transit within the city and province.

Maybe you could apply for a golden visa to Spain or Portugal.

European, and other continent cities went through major civilization changes considering their age and their design and architecture went through those changes with it.

The American cities were only built within the last few hundred years. Impossible to compare.

America is not about beauty. It’s about efficiency, and the ability to take a lickin and keep on ticking!

Montreal in the springtime with the office girls parading and wonderful eateries comes closest.
Vancouver and Victoria not entirely without merit in those regards.
Still Barcelona is exceptional.....so many good memories of the Ramblas....day or night...the Roman market and thousands of scoots :D

Mexico City is my favourite city in the world, I would be living there if I could figure out a way.

Unbelievable weather, amazing neighbourhoods, interesting people, architecture, great restaurants. Basically everything you could want and most of it is walkable plus a very good transit system.

Move, go find what you need.
Worked for me.

History, some places have more of it and it moulds a place. Culture, some places have more and it moulds the way of life.

I head to Quebec City every year for good food, museums and a slice of european style life. That scratches my itch.

I used to live in Paris and was thinking today that even if I got off the metro many stops before my own there was always something a few steps away that was wonderful every single time. A beautiful park, an amazing fountain, a great store or a gem of a cafe, a new neighbourhood with a different vibe maybe.

However…I wouldn’t ever be able to have afforded a house in Paris which means I wouldn’t really have had a garden and likely pets. While the city was beautiful it had its dirty underside too. Where I am now I have a house, pets, security, my own garden and if I really want to go, Paris is a day‘s travel away. Pros and cons with everything. I’m happy here generally, I just wish someone would turn the thermostat up for the next few months.

Like motorcycles?

Don't live in a city. Any of them.

Not all cities are created equal ;)

15min drive from the beach in this image to the start of the hinterland in the background with some of the best riding roads in the country.

I told you the sun in Spain was amazing!

Have you been to Italy, if you think Barcelona is beautiful, Rome is going to be insanity to you + the food!

You sure this isn't about bagels?

Probablamente mas facil encontrar una esposa espana 🤷‍♂️

What city? Still looks like bland urban sprawl, even if they have sun and beach.

It's the gold coast australia. There is more canals and waterways then Venice and Amsterdam put together. It's a modern city, yes, but has some amazing natural features that are hard to find all in one place.

I've been to Barcelona and I like it here just fine you thank. Quit whinning and move already or do you just like the sound of your own bellyaching?

I’ve been to Barcelona, and Rome , Peru and Mexico City . You could argue for any of them . Things are ok for me here .
I have a beautiful wife , I don’t need other women , I went to chef school and I can cook. When cycle season is over , ski season kicks in . They make great wine in Italy and Spain and ship it here .

Can't compare TO to any of them IMO. Any city from the 'old country' was created under different conditions.

Also, let's not pretend they don't have issues..just different issues then TO.
