Why Millions Buy Harley-Davidson Motorcycles

my new bike is an air cooled V-twin
pushrods, 2 valves, dry sump, separate transmission
what does that sound like?
there is nothing wrong with simple reliability

heritage and new technology are not mutually exclusive
Hmmmmmmmm
Push rods infer cam in case, with a LONG valve train... which is heavy and in-efficient. Overhead cams are definitively BETTER.
2 Valves with 4.5" bore isn't enough to get modern performance. To get enough flow through two valves the valves and ports have to be HUGE, which doesn't help low end or mid-range AND packaging those great big valves means you got a HUGE combustion chamber, which doesn't help the cause.
Dry sump? 99.9% of motors these days have a"dry sump". You have REMOTE RESERVOIR dry sump though... which adds un-necessary weight and complexity to a simple motor.
Separate transmission, with a big heavy chain to drive it... gears are much more efficient, quieter and require less maintenance... and a separate transmission requires a separate case, adding more weight
... and you didn't mention the knife and fork con rods... that limit horse power and RPM
... and here's the BIG problem: There is no technology available today that will get a air cooled big twin past 2025 CAFE regulations. Too loud and too much emissions.

Sounds like a 1927 Ford tractor to me... except for the con rods. Even in 1927 Ford knew they were a bad idea.
Heritage is one thing, ignoring the advance of technology is NOT that thing.
If you want "heritage" get your self a 1966 Electroglide. THAT'S HERITAGE
You guys are just play acting "Heritage"

There was a time when you removed the MAZDA nameplate on their pickup's engine, it had FORD embossed into the valve cover... and when you removed the FORD nameplate on the Probe's motor it said MAZDA.
Magna makes most of the floor pans these days. At one point they were selling one floor pan to Opel, VW, Audi and Holden.
The Opel, Audi and VW were are sold in the same market, competing with each other.

Doesn't mean you were able to afford one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Whether you can afford one or not, if you own one repairs and depreciation are killers.
just messin around, still

one can add to the other
is it a Gooch?

Gooch is slang for the perineum, or the area between the anus and genitals, usually on a man. It can also occasionally be found as slang for “excellent” or “awesome” in the Laguna Beach area of Southern California.

What did I miss?

Moto Goochie (aka Moto Guzzi)

Damn, and here I thought I knew everything about these kinds of things...

It's also know as the "tisn't".
Tisn't the front door.
And it tisn't the back.

I figured out why Mr. J_F is offended.
His new bike is a Guzzi.

So Sorry.
... but everything I said thinking it was a Harley holds true to the Guzzi, except the part about the remote dry sump. A Guzzi has a regular semi dry sump like every body else... at least on the newer ones they took the oil filter OUT of the oil sump, the older ones, like the one I got, you have to remove the oil pan to change the can oil filter. (I guess it seemed like good idea at the time. It's about 20 bolts and a new $22 gasket, and a MESS).

OH, and comparing it to a 1927 Ford tractor is unfair, it would be a 1954 Lamborghini tractor.
Guzzi's are Italian Harleys... not exactly "cutting edge".

... but he won't read this cuz i'm being ignored. TOO BAD SO SAD... NOPE

Hmm... I'd be interested in seeing a drag race between the Duke 390 and the 883 Sportster...
I know the Suzuki GS500 beats the 883... So it would be close, I'm sure.

I know it’s not air cooled to air cooled but my 2000 kawi Ninja 500 would trounce my 2001 Sportster 1200. And the Sporty has an upgraded programable ignition, a/c and slip ons.

But I loved the Sporty in ways the Kawi couldn’t match.

The Kawi was a riot in its own regard.

Riding into town or running in a group of Harley's just give you a different feeling than any other bike gives.

the whole world knows it’s a Harley and they often give you the cool bike look
