Why don't car enthusiasts complain about 'nannies?' Or do they!?

This enthusiast gripes about pointless nannies and gizmos all the time! I wish every car is available as a manual, that once I select traction control/stability control OFF that it stays OFF unless I switch it back on. I hate lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, automatic braking, etc with a passion.

But the manufacturers barely throw us a bone anymore, and you're just grateful to get any sort of driver's cars at all.

I know it's a pipe dream, but I do wish car manufacturers do like motorcycle manufacturers and continue to offer retro/heritage models, with modern engine management. I would love to buy a new built Nissan S13/S15.

Can't. Government mandated safety and emissions add more than 1000 lbs and ruin the magic. Some manufacturers are sitting on old vins that technically allow construction of new old vehicles but most don't play that game. Shelby has a bunch of vins they could use. I think Lamborghini has some but said they won't do it.

Sadly, not enough REAL motorheads to make it profitable.

The Mustang and the Camaro came close... they sold a ton of them detuned to secretaries, enough they could afford to make ZL1s and GT350/500s.
We need something like a Karmaan Ghia, offered with a turbo six and real suspension. The Miata and Toyota thing are close... not enough motor. A 914/6 anyone? (but made by Toyota or Ford)

I though he sold them all.
There was a class action suit against him for the 16 or 17 frames he "found" (that tanked the market for "real" Shelbys) (Ya gotta LOVE Shelby)
Lambo made that tribute car, the Balboni... is that what we're after? That was about as much STUPID as you can pack into one car LEGALLY
A BONE STOCK 2018 Camaro ZL1, right off the showroom floor (they put real tires on it), did the Nurburgring in 7:16
A "Red Eye" Challenger will do a 1/4 mile in less than 10 seconds right off the show room floor (and when you DO that you get banned from the track... is a pretty COOL car but as useless as tits on a boar)

They CAN build them

You don't get banned. You get suspended until you put in the required safety devices for a sub 10 sec. car. One of the guys in the local VW group I know use to soft pedal his Golf at the end of his runs to stay above the magic number (something about full cages not being legal in a street car).
