Why Android is better than iPhone.

for the people that think the iphone 4S is a disappointment, need to wake up.

You need to get your head out of the sand...

Apple is just playing catch-up here.

The Apple iPhone Micro USB Adapter allows you to use third-party micro USB cables and chargers to sync or charge your iPhone.

[h=1]If you’re disappointed by the iPhone 4S, you’re nuts[/h]

Cue the whiners. Apple didn’t announce an iPhone 5 today, just an updated version of the iPhone 4, called the iPhone 4S. Apple stock is down a bit in a flat market. Many are claiming to be disappointed. But here’s the thing: You shouldn’t be.
For users, this is still the best phone that money can buy — even better today, with some new features. And for investors, Apple will sell record numbers of these devices, probably earning record profits.
  • The iPhone 4S is a significantly different device under the hood, including a faster processor, better camera, faster mobile web access, better antenna design, worldphone features, and better battery life. In other words, a much better phone. (These aren’t just “specs,” either — these things matter.)
  • Remember that what makes an iPhone an iPhone is mostly software. Apple’s iOS 5 looks great, and that matters the most. I am especially excited for iMessage, so I can stop paying for text messages. The new Siri assistant features look like they could be cool, too.
  • The iPhone 4 is still the best-selling single phone in the U.S., even more than a year after it first launched. I expect the iPhone 4S to be the best-selling phone.
  • More than 90% of Americans still don’t own an iPhone. Heck, two-thirds of Americans still don’t own a smartphone. So the iPhone 4 design isn’t “old” to them. (Not any more than the Motorola RAZR that they still use.) It may not be a “must-upgrade” for everyone, but most people don’t buy new phones every year, anyway. Meanwhile, it’s an incredible upgrade for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G owners, as well as folks using older Android devices, BlackBerries, or dumbphones.
  • Keeping the same exterior design may help Apple in production and manufacturing, so it doesn’t face shortages this time around. Already, Apple is boasting the fastest iPhone rollout it has ever had. This quarter should see record iPhone demand, potentially over 25 million units. It’s important not to have any significant trouble delivering, because that’s how you lose to the competition. (Keeping the same case design may even boost — or at least help maintain — margins, too. Not the only thing that matters, but a nice bonus.)
Now Apple has set the stage for a new iPhone 5 design next year, with 4G LTE, NFC, and whatever else it has been working on.
While the iPhone 4S may seem like a let-down, I assure you: It is an excellent phone, and it should do great things for Apple’s business.

If you’re disappointed by the iPhone 4S, you’re nuts

You're a little unclear on the concept of disappointment.

People's expectations level ---------> UP HERE

New feature delivery level ----------> DOWN HERE

The difference between the two equals disappointment, and this will always be true even if the 4S is the bestest phone like, evar.

They already got the A5, the 8MP camera, siri, world phone, 64GB, iOS 5 etc, etc.....already setup in a new iphone(oct 14 2011), so they just need to focus on the re-design that everyone needs, and that shouldn't be too far off.

I really do see an iPhone 5 for summer 2012, but for sure in 2012....because apple released an iphone every year since initial iphone launch(2007).

iphone - june 29 2007
iphone 3G - july 11 2008
iphone 3GS - june 19 2009
iphone 4 - june 24 2010(GSM) --- feb 10 2011(cdma) --- white iphone - apr 28 2011
iphone 4S - oct 14 2011
iphone 5 - TBA

ut hey, i could be wrong.....but my iphone 4 will still be able to make phonecalls.

and jailbreak got my back till then.

Who are "people's"? It was more or less what I expected, aside from it being capable of recording HD video.

[h=1]Apple just set itself up for a huge product year in 2012[/h]
iphone-4s.jpg
Apple’s product launches this year have been mostly evolutionary. That sets the stage for a potentially huge 2012.
Consider what Apple released in 2010: The first iPad, the amazing iPhone 4 with “retina” display, the tiny new Apple TV, the touchscreen iPod nano, and the ridiculous new MacBook Air. All were huge upgrades over what previously existed.
Now, this year, it’s been mostly “refreshes” — the slightly thinner iPad 2, the modestly updated MacBook Air, and now the iPhone 4S. (While I disagree that the new iPhone should be seen as a disappointment, I obviously realize it’s not as exciting as a flashy new hardware design.) The iPod nano got a modest software update, and the Apple TV got AirPlay mirroring and baseball games.
Yes, these are the best products Apple has ever made, and they are in high demand. But the changes were relatively minor this year compared to the year before.
Next year, though, could be another big one. The third iPad, this time with a retina display. An iPhone 5 with 4G LTE, NFC support, and a slick new design. Maybe, finally, an Apple television. We’ll see.
The good news, in the meantime, is that even the evolutionary upgrades have been selling better than ever.

RIP...

He's right, expectations were quite high. This is purely because of the rumour-mill... in the leadup to the official announcement most tech sites were damn near 100% sure they had the right guess for what the new phone was gonna be. It was accepted that the iPhone 5 was gonna be a certain way, and folks were let down.

Who knows, maybe it was a corporate competitor's effort... leak a fake photo here and there, generate some fake buzz and get people riled up and then allow Apple to let them all down with reality.

Wow....

-unimpressive release of iphone4
-Jobs passes on.

Every dynasty comes and goes. It appears Apples "glory" days are over.

About this Whole iPhone “4S” Thing

Screen-Shot-2011-10-04-at-5.45.05-PM-e1317764795734.png

My neighbor Scott told me yesterday he was disappointed because Apple was releasing an iPhone 4S and not an iPhone 5. I asked him if he would have been happier if Apple’s new device was called iPhone 5. He said yes, then he thought about it, and realized how stupid his original comment had been.
My friend Felipe told me yesterday that he was disappointed because Apple had not updated the design of the iPhone 4S. I asked him if he would have been happier if Apple had unveiled a brand new design. He said yes. I asked him if he thought that the current iPhone 4 was a beautiful device. He agreed. So I asked him what the problem was…
It’s just a name. It’s just a phone. It’s time to get over the designation and form factor, and really focus on what’s important: the specs!
Coupled with iOS 5, the iPhone 4S will be the best smartphone out there when it hits the shelves next week. And you can’t argue against that.

Poser.........

All I can tell you is that all my Apple friends have lost their iBoner after being let down by the new release.

this is a rogers blog about upgrading a hardware.....ok cool.

*********************************************************

this is the ugly part, didn't find this out till now.

they just changed early upgrade(no fee) from 24 mths to 30 mths (may 2011)

What you want when you want it: upgrade early with Rogers

Can’t wait to get your hands on the new Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY? Marking off the calendar days until you can upgrade to a new BlackBerry Torch?
That day could be today.
Rogers upgrade options have offered you the advantage of being able to upgrade your device before your contract ends. Our new “early upgrade” promotion allows you the addedfreedom and flexibility to upgrade your device as early as six months into your existing contract term.
How Does this Work?
An early upgrade fee is a one-time fee based on the device type you currently own and how many months you have until you’re eligible for new customer pricing under the current standard upgrade offer. Customers who do not want to upgrade early are still entitled to upgrade their hardware at the discounted device price before the end of their 3-year term, depending on eligibility under the current standard upgrade offers.
Under this new early upgrade promotion, the following fees will be used to determine the one-time early upgrade fee and refer to a customer’s current device (the one from which they’re upgrading):
  • $10 per month for voice or quick messaging devices
  • $15 per month for select smartphones, tablets and other eligible devices (i.e sticks, hubs)
  • $20 per month for premium devices (I.e iPhone 4 and BlackBerry Torch) <-------WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s Break That Down
Here is an example of an early upgrade offer: Jack is 20 months into a 3-year term on hisAcer Liquid E and he really wants a new Samsung Nexus S. Instead of waiting 10 months until he is eligible to upgrade his device at a discounted price ($99.99), Jack can add $150 to the new customer price ($15 per month based on his current device x 10 months) to upgrade to the device at $249.99 on a new 3-year term (compared with $549.99 for the no-term price).
Pricing, eligibility and offers are subject to change so it’s always best to visit a local Rogers retail location where a customer service representative can check your eligibility. This new early upgrade offer applies to our entire lineup and replaces special device specific hardware upgrade offers we’ve had in the past, such as the iPhone 4 early upgrade offer.
Will you consider an early upgrade? We would love to hear your feedback in the comments below but please note that we cannot answer individual upgrade eligibility questions. Customers who are interested in an upgrade to a new device should visit a local Rogers retail location.

You would be surprised by the Google CEOs have talked highly about Jobs as being the industry innovator and shaping it to what it is now. I do agree that it's probably more of they want the max attention they can get to their product. Even the Iphone 4S has been shadowed by Jobs' death.

Imagine If you have the newest Benz and you are happy with it, but you hear rumors that a new model is coming out with a redesign. You save enough money so you could purchase your new Benz. After a good wait it comes out but only has minor changes like a few added ponies new nav system, upgraded interior and so on. To me I would be disappointed. Yes it would be a better car but everyone would of been happier to get a total redesign.

This is their way of squeezing the market from their old design. Obviously when the 5 comes out it will be 4g which will make all other iPhone feel like the original iPhone running on edge. I say to you unless u have a lot of disposable income wait for the 5

I was thinking about that when the "new" mustang came out. The poor saps who bought the previous years model now had an ugly looking car. But then the redesigned one came out and it looked all pretty and stuff.

I say wait for the 6 or the 7 even. I've heard the 7 will look like the latest nano and you'll be able to wear it like a watch, so I think I'll wait for that one....

I am very happy that they didn't redesign it. Now that case I've been wanting to get when I upgraded from my 3G will fit my new 4s :)

I think Iphone 4S was made for the new CEO so shortly after he takes over he makes big announcements like Jobs did so markets are happy that he would be able to fit in Jobs' shoes. Unfortunately, Jobs passed away sooner than they expected and it wasn't the timing they expected.

^^^^ I find these hard to believe.

Everybody expected an iphone5. It was speculated on for almost a year. As for Jobs death? Two days later, its not even front page news anymore.
