Why Android is better than iPhone.

Lightflow is what you need then

Customize your LED for blinking color and what not but also customize your notifications

You can set it up for screen to light up for certain type of notifications, and not to for others etc etc and i dont even think you need to be rooted for that

I use it. Its okay but its just a light.

To answer a text or see the received email I still have to unlock the phone. My iPhone showed far more info.

Yeah its kinda pathetic actually.

Otherwise android 4.2.1 is light years ahead of where this OS was a year ago. Its finally as smooth and responsive as iOS. Customizability is definitely a little better, and so far the bigger screen is nice. I don't keep the phone in a case so its still relatively portable.

Apps are still better in iOS though. The same apps in Android aren't as stable or nicely designed.

I've been looking for something like iOS's do not disturb for the girlfriend's phone... it's stuck on 2.6 or something like that. found a few apps that claim to do it but none as nice. most of them have similar reviews... "works great at first but then it just stopped working and none of my notifications come through" or "works great at first but then it just stopped working and none of my notifications are blocked"

Its not just a light, you can set up more options as per the screenshot below:

Look at the last option!
and theres a popup option as well... :)
and you can setup different settings with different types of notifications, and you can get specific behaviour for specific apps IF you get the premium version

@crusngrrl: im sorry for my unawareness but what does DND do? just block notification sounds/vibe? or block actual notifications from coming in?

I've been using popup SMS to get me similar functionality to bitesms for iPhone. Its kinda close but doesn't work quite 100%

I'll try turning it off and using light flow notifications to see if its any better.

from apple's site

"
Turn on Do Not Disturb to suppress all incoming calls and notifications. Enable it manually or schedule a recurring time. Or allow calls from your favorites or specific contact groups."

so do you still get a "missed call" after you get out of DND or you get no clue? thanks for the info :)

@mmmmnaked: no problem! anything i can do to help. to have pop-ups like iOS for text messages, i used to use ChompSMS ... but it comes by default in my rom so i dont need anything else.

You get missed call, it displays on the screen as it comes in but no noise or vibration, people on my white list make noise.

ohhh i get it..so its like a silent mode with exceptions. thanks a lot for clarifying

Another reason why Apple is losing ground to Samsung. My daughter got a new Ipod 5 to replace her ipod 4. She needs to recover her apple password. We have been trying for 2 weeks and every time we try we get session has timed out, like wtf. Apple makes every task difficult to impossible. They are the most useless ****s ever. I can't wait until they fall like rim did.

lol ^ wut

Apple makes stuff retardedly easy to accomplish, thats the whole point. Maybe you suck at internet.

ya that's it I suck at the internet. That's the exact response I would expect from someone like you.Just so you know, I am extremely good at pretty much anything tech. related. You need to explain how it is my fault when I enter the information required, hit continue and I get session timed out, better yet hop back on the short bus and go for a ride.

A couple of things.

These numbers are units shipped, not units sold. Shipped does not equal sold. Apple releases numbers for sold units, everyone else releases numbers for shipped. Kinda hard to compare one to the other.

Even if people are buying Android tablets, who's actually using them. The most recent numbers show the iPad commands 80% of web traffic. I'm in an environment where I see customers waiting around and playing on their tablets all day long, I'll say it's super rare that I see anyone use something other than an iPad or iPad Mini.

Other news :

-"During the fourth quarter, Apple's Mac business shrank more than it has during any other quarter in the past 10 years–-down 22% year-over year. Mac sales grew slower than the overall PC business for the first time in a long while."

- Google stock just hit an all time high.... hows Apple stock doing?

Small sample sizes lead to big percentage gains. They're now where Apple was 3 years ago! If they keep it up for 3 years, maybe they'll make a dent.

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it ;)
