Who pays if you are hurt on the track?

Why did the Bar Hodgson track days stop?
If you have the liability insurance that trackday organizers, do dont they cover the legal fees since they would be paying any settlement? I dont know how that works.

Was not a racing organization. I know an attempt was made to sue them but I don't know if it was "successful", either. Racing may be in a different situation from track days because everyone who is actually "racing" has gone through some sort of training in order to get licensed. Honestly, I'm nervous about the ease by which anyone can get on the track at a track day without any real training whatsoever.

With regards to suing track-day organizers, do remember the famous words ... "you can't get blood out of a stone."

Track day organizers would do well to emulate that stone. I'm pretty sure most of them do, in fact, emulate that stone.

Let's not be attempting to sue racing or track-day organizations and ruin it for the rest of us, mm'kay???

I have no idea if there is a difference between a track day org and a racing org.......both carry liability insurance, so Im not sure about the blood from a stone argument since the insurer would be paying?
Next time you talk to Bar it would interesting to see if he tells you the same thing.

Here was there press release

SUPERSHOW Events to no longer produce track related activities

Notice to Track Riders:

It is with regret that SUPERSHOW Events announces we will no longer be involved in the production of Track Days, PlayDays, and Motorcycle Races.
The decision to step away from our summer racetrack events is based on concerns on acquiring proper insurance coverage. We are unable to obtain a level of insurance coverage that our company feels would be required to continue to make track days available to riders. Any 2004 publicized dates for SUPERSHOW Events' Track Days are no longer valid. Track riders wishing to obtain information on available Mosport track days should contact Mosport directly.

Are you totally, 100% sure that you will be covered in the States? Most/all have a "contest of speed" exemption from coverage.

Yes I am. Yes they do. Cali superbike school nor track dates at mid Ohio are contests of speed. I just have to specify what/where and when I am doing them.

I have a personal Ontario Blue Cross health insurance policy. It also covers me for up to 14 days per annum travel insurance. I am also covered if I injure myself at a race track on a track day. Contests of speed are not covered. Track day lapping is covered in much the same way SCUBA diving or para gliding would be. I suppose it is viewed as "something done on vacation". Every time I go stateside for a track day I call Blue Cross to reconfirm I am covered.
