Which GPS system do you use aside from your phone

That was Joe Bass, I just posted it because he is too old to "do the internet"

You made me chuckle. Thanks ?.
Tapatalk and my Windows phone don't get along since the last update. Just been dragging my @$$ to finally switch over to my Galaxy s4.

Forgot to add... if you ever feel like going off road on a bike... this is the unit to get.

Agreed. The Montana is very popular with the off road crew.

I use the etrex 20. Very simple with easy to use mapping, waterproof and can be used with Basecamp for cyclists and hikers. Cheap, but you will need to download the free software.

I was considering Zumo... For my latest trip (east coast) I had my car GPS since it was already wired and mounted, and my Android phone running osmand free version - held by Ram X-mount and streaming into Cardo Scala.

Phone option isn't perfect, but it worked well enough that I am now sure I won't be getting bike-specific GPS (mainly due to cost).

I loved how quickly I can create a route simply by browsing the map (super responsive pinch-zoom and slide around the map), screen was bright enough that I had no issues seeing everything in direct sunlight with sunglasses on.
I understand how dangerous distracted driving is - but I liked having quick one-line notice show up on the top of my gps when I get email or text message - at quick glance I can see if it is something I need to deal with or ignore it... Same with phone calls... Playing music from my phone is awesome - GPS announcements pause it and continue playing after... This is great even for loading audio books on your phone and having everything work seamlessly... There are many phone-friendly gloves on the market too...

Anyway, as I said, it isn't perfect, but it is good enough for me (my 2 cents)

At the end of the day that is all that matters. There is no perfect solution for everyone, which is why have so many options is great.

Thanks for the "heads-up". I ordered one yesterday.

*joe bass winks and motions with hands in a 'double gun'*
(we need an emoji like that)

s4 is super old dude, you need to upgrade.

LOL! I just got it! I've never been one for the latest and greatest. Just give me the one that's free. ?

Agreed. Leaves more money for gas and ice cream. :D

Joe's Ice cram budget is larger than some smaller countries GDP..lol

I eat ice cream pretty much 7 days a week. I usually keep it on the down-low.
Joe's honesty has helped me accept my addiction...

So now we know where 'Iceman' comes from. ?

Lol I wish. It actually involves a dirt ride in northern ontario in late November, a frozen(not so much?) river crossing, and hypothermia. To all my friends in the Oftr, it's been Iceman ever since.

So the GPS came in today. I installed it to the battery. I stuck the negative under the negative screw, and positive under positive.

After watching some youtube videos, I see people sticking the wires into the fuse box. Will I drain my battery overnight with the way I did it? (Obviously removing me GPS off mount after use)

Yep. Hook it up to your license plate light wires, then it'll only run when the bike is actually running.

Iirc, I've posted this info earlier in the thread, but in case you have missed it or are interested:
My local Dollarama has a gps lock for $3. It clamps on the gps, then has airline cable that you can attach to the frame/ triple etc. Maybe not the best, but a useful deterrent, if you dont want to carry the gps around with you.
