Last time I was at BS many years ago for friends wedding a glorified closet was far more than that. I think you can wander the halls for free. Cool place. If you want to swim in the outdoor pool, you need to buy a spa pass for ~$100 a day. Cool experience in the winter but not worth that much to me.
That should be good. Easy on the wallet. Usually fellow travellers to compare notes with.
About 500km today. Started with the lake Minnewaka loop then up to Lake Louise which was nice and I'm glad i went, but it was filled with thousands. Then i did Morraine Lake. The 12km ride up was awesome with snow everywhere. The lake is beautiful. Saw and heard a small avalanche on the mountain at the back of the lake. Then headed up to the Columbia icefields. I think all the tour buses that were at Lake Louise went there next. Two and a half hour wait to get on the icefield. And then an ambulance was called, so who knows how long. The glacier is incredible to see tho. Headed north (i think) for Jasper. Critters everywhere. Bighorn sheep on the highway and in glacial riverbeds. At a turn, i look beside me and there was a huge deer (maybe an elk) in the ditch looking at me.
Crossed into my birth place BC and gained another hour. This is messing with me a bit because i went east and did the opposite a few weeks ago.
Last nite in Banff was luxury. Tonite, not so much. There are probably nicer motels in Guadalajara. They all look the same when you turn off the lights.

The snow was at 1870m altitude. High enough.Nice run. Interesting there is still snow at low levels.
I've got to get one of those screaming head stickers.
There's growing art trend here to tart up the grain silos to point now there is an 8500 km trail to drive to see them. Adds to tourism in our far spaced towns and they look neat.

Glad to see you doing this ride.
I rode the east cost in 2006 on my R6 and loved every one of the 11 days of the round trip.
Enjoyed it so much that I did the exact same trip the following year in a car.
Drove out to BC with a friend and his family a few year prior to the bike trip. I tagged along so I didn't have much to say about what we do and where we go. But enjoyed it as well.
Hope you enjoy it just as much. Ride safe.

Good ride to Vancouver today.I didn't really plan to go this far. But all of a sudden found myself at the loading dock for the ferry to Nanaimo. The ride from Shuswap was strange. Mountains, then flat farmland, more mountains and then boom! Pacific.
No provision to tie your bike down on the ferry. Leave it in gear on the sidestand and they stuff a big wooden wedge under the right side.
And somehow i hit 19,000km.i need an oil change.

Brings back a lot of memories! Not tying the bikes down freaked me out at first, until someone pointed out that boats that big simply don't change direction fast enough to be a problem. And they don't sail if there's even a minor storm, as storms are so rare. It's called the Pacific for a reason...
Worth checking out Victoria if you're on the island, it's an underrated city, lots more than the "newly wed and nearly dead" stereotype. Lots more interesting than Nanaimo, I think.
Or take the highway to the top and see Port Hardy (journey, not destination for that one), though be cautious of the logging roads up there. They're made of big, sharp rocks that absolutely shred tires.
Or head into the middle-west of the island for the surfer nuttiness of Tofino. The road to Gold River is pretty extraordinary, too. Or do a loop around the southwest and stop at places like China Beach, with giant prehistoric trees and gorgeous views of the ocean.
Or come back via Comox to Powell River, down through the Sunshine Coast to experience one of the great twisty motorcycle roads anywhere.
Vancouver Island is an amazing place. As you can probably tell, I miss visiting there far more than I miss living in the Vancouver area...
