Where is everybody buying tires?

Shinko is an okay company for discount tires. I had some experience with them and didn't have any major issues. Large manufacturers fail too at times - ContiMotion I had on my bike was one of the worst tires ever. Only half decent when new and then progressively worse. It is Continental's bargain brand, however, to put it into perspective.

Michelin first for me. Bridgestone, Pirelli, Metzeler, Dunlop - all good. Depends on the model and what you use it for.

As for prices - still can't beat Pete's. It's not even close. If it were, I'd buy locally.

Metzler are cheap Chinese tire now wouldn't touch em sloppy build wires hanging out at the bead on the last set I saw. Big downhill slide sine the pirelli buy out and production shift from Germany to China.

They're South Korean. Everyone ***** on Stinko but most have never tried em...I ran 1 set and they were ok, this is on a 250 so I wasn't putting down stupid power and they never lost traction...

Would I put them on again, no...probably not. I've been through so many different manufacturers and sets it was just an experimental run. Would I put them on a SS, hell no.

I am talking about Metzler they are Chinese shinko is korean

If you can afford a Harley you can afford to put Michelins on it...

Or Metzeler ME 88's.

Agreed. I just wouldn't go to a dealer to purchase and install. Plenty of indies can do it fairly reasonable. Order from Pete's and get the tire(s) in a couple of days.

It's funny that I have not seen a negative review of Shinko's from anyone who has tried the Shinko's, but a lot of negative responses from those who have not tried them. Kind of like the people who say, towing a trailer behind a bike is not right, even though they have never tried it.. sigh...I wish that people who have no experience in certain topics would not waste other peoples time posting ignorant opinions. Thanks for the info. for those that have intelligent responses. I'm gonna get me another shinko and George will clap.

I wonder if all local motorcycle stores closed due to people buying from the internet and Pete's, would people send their motorcycles to Montreal in the mail to be repaired?

I agree...I want to buy locally.....and support them but..only if they can get what I want.

Your ride, you decide.

Why support a local shop when you can save $10?

Didn't say they don't work just not impressed with the build quality and not interested in supporting them after the move to chinese manufacturing.

I've had shitkos and they scared the hell out of me. Came used on a bike I bought. Put Michelins on in a month. Had Pirelli before. Shitkos were about as good as the IRC that come on the 250s. A MUST change if you care about keeping 2 wheels down at all.

I don't even try to argue with morons about Shinko tires anymore. Shinko has been around since 1946, and produce over 200000 motorcycle tires per month. Metzeler, for example, produces about 65000 tires per month, so which company is the "small" tire company? Shinko tires offer 80-90% of the performance of similar, supposed "brand name" tires, at 60% of the price, and that's math I can live with. Anybody wants Shinkos, I can get them, and install and balance for you. I've personally used 15 or twenty sets of various Shinko models, and have installed hundreds. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY loves them.

Because I'm closer to 50 than 40, been riding for years and through many sets of good and bad tires and have read enough negative reviews on the net and in magazines about those "entry level" tires to come to that conclusion. There's certain things I will not compromise on. Tires and brakes being two of those. Like I said, the most important thing between you and the road, that WILL determine whether you dump it or not and you have to cheap out?

Wait, you ride a Harley. Farthest you will lean it over is on the kickstand. Carry on...

Maybe all local motorcycle stores would learn to offer more competitive pricing and customer service first, before they commence this shut down.

... And don't you worry, there will be always motorcycle stores in GTA. Stop being so dramatic.

Try $80 on two tires. I have to work 3h to earn that. If it were $10, I'd buy local just like anyone else would. There's a reason people purchase stuff online. Seller and customer have to meet in the middle. If the balance is skewed, guess what happens? Customer leaves. It's not just prices, a colleague of mine waited 5 weeks for a bike part for example. The shop was surprised that he finally bought his own from the States. Came in 5 business days.

Let's be honest here and stop demonizing people. You give me a fair price and good service, I'll be the first person to visit your store/shop. You rip me off or treat me like dirt - see ya!
