Beautiful weather today..

Went to ride up around in Muskoka/Gravenhurst area (Southwood, Houseys Rapids, Cooper Falls)...then down to Port Perry...was hoping to catch more of the fall colours but it seems a lot of it is gone already...still pretty though.

Nice rides everyone - great to get out on these awesome fall rides.
I couldn't resist....

18 down in Dover - not as many bikes out as I expected.
Quiet no wind - will bumble the backroads back north - maybe coffee in Guelph.

I believe that a dual-sport is more on where you ride and what roads you ride on, then the type of bike.
I bought a DR650 to hit the dirt roads around here. I ended up selling it, for family reasons.
But now I have a hoot riding the same dirt roads, 2-up on my touring equipped, 1st gen, FZ1.
I find it is more about the tires that you are running than anything else.

this very well may be the last great day of riding.

hopefully not though.

I'm sure there are areas in North America and even Northern Ontario where the same applies but the idea of taking the Forks version of a dual sport where I ride in Aus let alone where they ride ......well ...just....not....on. :D

You got it in one - let alone a forest track.

Thursday looks good - as warm as today and Saturday is okay tho some isolated showers - rest of the week is dampish and Sunday WET!

Didn't think I'd make it out but found some cool roads north of the city. Spent the afternoon zig zagging across caledon and there were some roads that kept me entertained...
old church road
17th side road
Castleberg side road
Humber station road (saw a deer)

Really sounds kind of snobby of you... Maybe they just went for a ride to the Forks? I've heard of people riding scooters outside of downtown on occasion. I wave at them just the same as I think any riding is good riding and however people want to ride bikes is really up to them.

I don't think you get the point at all and people ride scooters everywhere so what - they even take them up the The James Bay Road and circumnavigate Australia - you trying to be cute - if so you're not doing a very good job of it and as a moderator I think you are way out of line. ???

It's hardly "snobby" - it's the truth - these heavy dual sports never get their tires dirty.
They are terrific machines - they just are not really useful at all on anything remotely "offroad"
They don't have the tires on them to GET dirty.

I can't believe the weather - OK I can. I think fall riding is sometimes more enjoyable than riding in 35 degree heat. (of course I wouldn't mind some of that now).
Today brought me and "choppergrul" to Utica, Goodwood for lunch and back via Hwy 30. Lovely day for a spin.

Rouge Beach Park Early This Morning.

Hey you, get off that pumpkin wagon...

Yeah - rode home in the dark and still showing 15 on the temp gauge. That Rouge Beach shot is superb.

Just how do they do the palm trees in Dover???

Tthanks, for the kudos. I have always wondered how palm trees grow in Dover too.

So the only difference between the dual sports in Australia and Ontario is essentially more suspension travel and tire choice? Am I right?

Sorry, but I think that a scooter rider is a rock-throwing glass-house-liver here.

MacDoc, if you rode to look cool and have everyone love you, I'm betting it wouldn't be on a Burgman. Otherwise you'd write fewer threads defending them all the time and telling everyone how great they are!

Word has it that R1200s and V-Stroms are pretty good touring machines and can even take a turn.

Ride what works for you, end of story here.

I dont understand why you have to take shots at people out going for a ride. How do you know they never get their tires dirty? And so what if they do or don't? Did they say they were out dual sport riding? Maybe they just went out to the forks with all the other riders.
