When did pick up trucks turn into cars?

Friend picked up his 2021 Ram 2500 extended cab Cummins diesel yesterday with everything Dodge could shove in the truck, the sticker on the window was MSRP $107.852.00
obviously he got the instant $20k discount, previous customer incentive, discount because he has size 10 1/2 shoes. and was $70 something. But **** that's a lot of truck , taxed up your at $85 pretty quick.

That’s a nice truck @crankcall love the looks of em. My cousin has a RAM with about 400k on the clock. It’s falling apart but still drives.

Ya but same as their normal cars....Toyota equals quality. All my buddies in granite want nothing more than a Tundra. Apparently that’s the end all be all in that line of work.

‘you got a tundra? Wow....must be making mad money!’
Our office in Vancouver had trucks from all major maufacturers except Nissan. Once we decided to stop the piecemeal purchasing, we did an analysis comparing the maintenance costs of the trucks in the fleet at that time: F-150, F-350, F-550, Ram 1500, Chevy 1500, Chevy 2500, Tacoma and Tundra.

I don't remember the full ranking, but the Tundra came very low, almost as bad as the Dodges. It wasn't breakdowns that did it, but rather expensive consumables (they eat brake discs like they're made of cheese) and high parts costs (replacement windshield was triple the cost of Ford).

For context, the Tacomas did very well, but just weren't able to keep up with towing and hauling. We ended up going with Ford nationally, as they offered the best balance of upfront cost with reliability. This tweaked the nose of a few in the praries who had stickers on their Chevys and GMCs of Calvin whizzing on a Ford logo, but nobody seems to be complaining these days...

That’s about what my buddy also said about his Tundra. It’s great, but stupid expensive to maintain.

Mind you he didn’t really have any major issues, until the entire fuel delivery system **** the bed at 500,000km.

8k for the repair to the motor. He signed the ownership and gave the keys to the shop. Picked up the F150 a few hours later.

500k. That vehicle owed him nothing. Damn.

Exactly. He want planning on the Ford but 48k to 70k is a big difference and he’s happy so far after a month. Especially with the way the F150 ‘sips’ fuel in comparison to the Tundra.

Invest the difference and it's almost two trucks for the price of one.

yupp, why I went f150 vs tundra. resale is better on the tundra, but the fuel economy difference and the starting price premium wasn't worth it to me.
Also, the 3.5 ecoboost is wicked fast when you want it.

LoL that’s hilarious. This guys idea of investing is to grab a few bottles of vodka and chill, before and after a vacation or two.

I have very distinct group of friends, shockingly split between immigrants and native Canadians.

One group doesn’t believe in investing in anything but real estate, only thinks a Benz is the end all be all, and 3 vacations / year are the standard.

The other is conservative with their finances, invest regularly, and maybe a vacation per year.

guess which group has a more ‘fun’ life now?
And guess which is which?

^ Immigrants

^ ^^ Conestoga College has a huge brown student population (not a stereotype, foreign students = more $$$). They are obsessed with German cars even sh8t box Jettas

PreCovid I was putting about 50-60K per yr on vehicles, I use a three yr rotation (+- ) on vehicles. My F150 has been cheaper to operate and own all in than a VW diesel jetta . Better than a Tundra, we wont talk about the Jeep...

Claiming Ford is better than Toyota is a big no no

I’ve been driving a 2019 Tundra for the past 4 months. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice truck. Reliable, drives good, comfortable but it’s a dinosaur compared to anything domestic.

Ford, GM and Dodge all know what they’re doing with full size trucks.

I dropped into my buddy's shop the other day and on his bench I saw a new wheel bolt from a MB Sprinter. $43.00 each and they have many. It was about the size of a common $2.00 bolt from Home Depot.

lol, reminds me of the oil pan drain bolt on my BMW moto. I stripped it once, cost me $36 plus tax for a simple bolt.

what a joke, I'm done with german products.

Visiting the stealership's service department I saw a notice "hourly rate +$20 for sprinter vans" that alone was enough to make me not want one. JS.
