What's your biggest fear?

Back to the topic of fear, does anyone know the four parts of the brain and what each part is responsible for?

Which part of the brain is responsible for fear?

How do we stay out of the part of the brain responsible for fear and be able to better control our actions as a result?

Can't say that I quite know the answers that you're looking for, but fight/flight style reactions come from the amygdala, aka the "lizard" or "reptile brain." How I control it is with trained reactions which makes them the default reaction, rather than the ones that instinctive fear tends to cause.

YES, the reptile brain controls fear.

We are human and cannot use multiple parts of the brain at once. So one way to not get into a position of fear is to use your frontal lobs, the part of the brain responsible for higher level thinking. If you are using the higher level thinking you can stay out of the reptile brain and out of fear and the things you are afraid of.

Thanks Rob. (I guess Grimmy is afraid to comment on a post you made) My orginal observation and question was because earlier the same day or the day before I got a spam post in my intorduction thread and so was pointing out the first post thing and asking. I guess Grimmy can't get it through his head that not every comment is an insult, guess it is his way of thinking.

As for being on this Forum, I ride a Motorcycle, it is a motorcycle Forum, I also ride in Toronto and have already meet several people from this forum in person, And I feel Some of my threads and posts have been helpful to the riding community here. Do I need to explain myself further? I was invited to join this forum by a moderator does that help your question Grimmy?

1) No. I don't care to - I know Rob personally, and I know his demeanor.
2) No, more than likely you are a forum troll - given the tone of some of your posts.
3) I doubt you ride in Toronto often - given you reside quite literally several hundred of km's away. Kind of inconvenient.
4) Good for you!!!!
5) I think it more than likely, you joined this forum, possibly to contribute, but more for the perk to sell your bikes/wares.

Im done in this thread. Direct any more of your retorts to me via Private Message.

I have a serious question for all the riders on here and it would help if I could get as many honest answers as I can. I'm trying to find out what other motorcycle riders biggest fears are.
There are obvious answers, but I won't limit the responses by saying what they are.

What is your biggest fear as a motorcycle rider and why?
If you have more than one, feel free to list them..

When you ride around the city, do you take a lock with you?
Do you worry that your bike might not be there when you come back?
Or do you worry more about being in an accident?

I said I wouldn't write any obvious answers but whatever.

What do you riders think?

Now, just after a very recent (drive) collision with a deer, this scenario is on the top of my fear list when riding; given that I spend only 20% driving compared to ride, being lucky has a total different meaning for me.

Definitely clowns.

Thanks for the warm welcome again Grimmy. I will be back in Toronto again this weekend, maybe come down to the Jazz Festival Friday night, I will be down there listening to some music and getting some dinner. Maybe you can join us? Doubtful since I think the trolling is from your end.

P.S. I have nothing to sell, except a couple bikes I posted on the For Sale Forum but being across the border not much chance of that happening. Instead of posting more crap in this thread YOU could have PMed me.

Leaning in turns... my fear of low siding or falling off bike.

I'm with you on this one, I still go slow around curves and corners..

Bike related:
Being t-boned at an intersection
Sliding out on wet painted lines, streetcar tracks, those f'ing road snakes (black tar strips)
Being rear ended

Unbike related:
Drowning,
being burried alive
flying (Weirdly enough I'm not afraid of heights)

I'm the other way around. My knees were knocking as I climbed up the maybe 20 feet of the Shannonville sign, last weekend but really big heights don't bother me at all, flying or otherwise.

Deer.

i fear that its going to rain all the way to saturday morning and that my first time back on the bike after falling down is going to be a heat race.

getting caught doing 150 kph+ on my 250, because I won't have much more left to run...

I did the edge walk on the CN Tower, I did the whole "hanging off your harness" type deal. Was an awesome experience. I would do it again in a heart beat. I love rock climbing, repelling etc. I think my fear relates to helplessness. You're trapped in a tube 30,000 feet above the earth and there's **** all you can do if SHTF

Motorcycle related: Getting stung by a bee/wasp/hornet while riding. I carry a double-shot epi-pen for stings, and I don't trust the general driving public to stop and help me, let alone realize I need it.

I'm not scared of heights per se, but I get very bad vertigo on ledges. Even high curbs on the sidewalk.

That's my #1.. getting t boned like I did by a big white van April 2nd, 2012.. destroyed my bike and put me in the hospital.. still doing physiotherapy.. last April. I'm terrified of intersections.. left turners (I blow the horn sometimes and wiggle the bike), someone going through a red or stop sign.. ugh..

Now i got me a bigger and faster bike with a hi vis helmet.. LOL
