and the bike still brakes fine? i read somewhere you're supposed to change it every 2 years. it's been 3.5 years since my bike was built and it still has the original fluid. it brakes fine. so just wondering. i think i will change it when i decided to get SS brake lines though. too awkward to do stoppies with rubber lines lol

every year.....its quick to do a bleed with a working system.

If you're not sure, just change it. It doesn't take long, and you'll get it over with.

Just because everything seems fine doesnt mean it is.

Sold a Cbr a couple of years ago that I owned for 4-5 years. Got the brakes done with the cert. New pads and fluid, even though the pads could have passed ( border line).
I was amazed how much better the brakes were....didnt even notice a problem before hand.

Brake fluid is cheap and its easy to change. I recommend doing it every year. Brake fluid absorbs water, water lowers the boilng point, boiling fluid adds air, air means no brakes.
Granted extreme case , but wht NOT just change it out and not worry about it?

but if i never did it for 3 years and everything seems to run fine. is it really necessary to do it annually?

it is necessary as per the owners manual, but you dont have to do it....if your going to ride your bike anywhere near its upper limit, i'd make sure its working as well as it possible could

lol haven't done mine since 2007 and I only did it then because the system bled out after trying to change worn out brake pads myself.

Personally I prefer to wait until the brakes fail. Saves a ton of money and all that unnecessary preventive maintenance.

Every year on the Ducs.Every second year on the Couchrocket because the bloody thing has 9 nipples.

I'm sure u can leave it until u get the SS lines. You won't even notice the difference if u are riding street.

Why so often? Do u track your bike?

Not really.....more so cuz i'll fiddle with something.....new master or new lines or something. Been riding for 4 years on the street now, 1st season winter put some SS lines, second season radial master with a front end swap etc etc

plus when you get expensive brake fluid for free.....you want to see why its better...

What expensive brake fluid? Is it Silicone?

You can go for years without changing the fluid no problem, I've had 20 year old bikes with the original fluid. The problem starts when you get moisture in the system and brake internals will start to corrode. Brake fluid is like magnate to moisture, If your ever doing a brake fluid change always try to use a fresh sealed bottle... Not the half full bottle sitting on the shelf for a year.

Every year on the street bike and every second track day on the track bike. Why? because it takes me 20 min front and rear.

If you are not going to follow the manufacturers recommendation, what are you basing your decision on for ever changing the fluid?
