What's The Deal With Canadian Beers?

+1 for
Guiness
There's a big conference of beer producers. At the end of the day, the presidents of all beer companies decide to have a drink in a bar.

The president of 'Budweiser' orders a Bud, the president of 'Miller' orders a Miller Lite, Adolph Coors orders a Coors, and the list goes on. Then the waitress asks Arthur Guinness what he wants to drink, and much to everybody's amazement, Mr. Guinness orders a Coke!

"Why don't you order a Guinness?" his colleagues ask.

"Naah. If you guys won't drink beer, then neither will I."

C'mon now.... anybody that knows anything about beer knows that Lakeport Lager is where its at.

One simply cannot drink Guinness from a can.

A pint poured by a young lady in a kilt with big cans however is acceptable.

Exactly what we had Friday night after a trip to Royal in Guelph at the Irish pub in downtown. The beer was excellent, the view was spectacular but the nachos not so good.:laughing8:

While draught Guiness ( at room temp by the way) is really tasty anything from Innis & Gunn ( Scots brewer) is spectacular but more of a desert beer. As mentioned, the craft brewers produce more interesting and enjoyable beers than the big guys and of those, the Mill St. boys and girls put out some flavourfull product.

Whatever you drink...drink it in moderation.

(Yes Skitta, I did say that :D)

Cheers,
Spyug

Try the Canadian microbrewed beers. So yummy, cause they taste more like European beers. lol

Meh, I don't mind Moosehead. When I lived in Nova Scotia they had the MooseHead premium dry in a brown bottle, that was my favorite. I'm not a great connoisseur or anything haha. If its cold, ill drink it.

Creemore is a Canadian beer, and I'd rate it up there with any of the best beers in the world.

Steamwhistle also makes a beer that would stand up to international comparisons.

And for the record, the big-company beer in most countries is pretty ****. Heineken, Stella, Moretti, Fosters, Bud, Coors, etc.

Creemore is owned by Molsons

**** canadian beer...

buy yanjing

China's #1 beer, and its only 2$ a can! hahahaha (i joke i joke, but its actually decent)

but definitely stay away from that big 10 sign or whatever, some micro's are garbage some are good. Tough to find a "Great" one though...
Nothing beats a Becks or a Carls.

It is, but they still brew their beer from their original recipes up at the brewery in Creemore. They're not my favourite, but it's still some good ****.

I tried Galt Knife Old Style Lager the other day and really liked it. Oh, and Great Lakes Pumpkin Ale is back in stores for the season (for anyone who's a fan of seasonal beers)!

They have Galt Knife at my Vintages store. It's on my weekend list.

Canada has some excellent micro-brews, as do most countries (even the US, the land of Bud and PBR). You can't judge a country by the quality of their big name beers, most would not do well. Heineken? Yaa...

Steamwhistle is excellent on a hot summer day, easily found at most bars too! All of the Cameron's beers that I've tried have been good. St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout also comes to mind, also Creemore Kellerbier. There are many more, just pick up some bottles at the LCBO and try them out. There are some decent big name beers too. I really like Richard's White for instance.

Thanks for the recommendations. We have a bunch of the ones listed here, so I'm gonna be trying 2 different beers every week until I find the perfect one. :D

But I'm not gonna lie...I'm addicted to Mudshakes. Don't judge me. lmao

Btw, how do you guys like Kroenenbourg? I was actually pleasantly surprised...

The Merchant Ale House in St. Catherines has a great selection including seasonal brews. I had a Strawberry beer there once that was amazing! In the Fall...it's Pumpkin :)
