What they're teaching kids these days

Most parents are shocked to find their grade 6-7 kids are sexually active and grades 3-4 have experimented, touching , HJ's and BJ's. Even the good parents don't really have a grasp in some cases. Its probably not a bad idea to teach kids stuff, herpes is everywhere and HIV is unpleasant. Anal as a birth control may be over the top, but having them know it still needs to be done safely isn't a bad thing.
Amazingly there is as much pregnancy and STD's in high end areas as in urban crap holes because the kids (and parents) think its safe in Foresthill.

Yes this happened to me as well. "Correct decisions" is bang on. In other words don't get a broad pregnant. The rest is all science. Do they need to know what getting it in the ass is??? No. Should they be aware of the human anatomy? Of course. Let them see the female anatomy and how pregnancy happens. Let them become aware of how life changes if you do. Do they need a video of a woman crowning ? Nope (even though somehow it's like porn to them lol)

But as noted by others and I agree parents need to step up and take charge of this. Or they could have a 13 year old pregnant girl with HIV. Yes a little offside on the comment yet happens all the time.
If I was 12 & my Spanish teacher was talking to me about sex, I'd probably pop a load

This is what I'm getting at.

Lots of parents are in denial and think that their kids don't do that sort of stuff.

That's sort of what perpetuates the problem, for every nice girl that thinks boys have cooties, there is an equally nice girl that thinks taking it in the rear means she is still a virgin. Tomato Tamato...
When a young mom is of the mindset that she wasn't "with boys" till college, she thinks her daughter will be of the same thoughts. Not so much these days.

So last night the grandniece(3) was all over me, lots of play and affection. Neither of us were drunk. I poked my finger straight into her chest, as you would a sibling in the back seat of a long car ride, and was greeted with a total change in atittude "DON"T TOUCH ME!!"
What's this? Is this what they're teaching kids nowadays I asked my sister. Yup. Merry Christmas.

watch it ! you dont want to have to change your name to Inbred....lol

Ok, this thread stole my buzz..... I just figured out how to multiquote so here goes

Maybe i'm old school, but isn't this the job for a parent to be teaching their kids?

this is what I was thinking. I must have grown up in between curriculums, i dont remember any of this stuff.

I learned about sexual organs in school when I was in grade 5. They split the class up into boys and girls and had female students with a female teacher and same for guys. There was no real talk of sex, just more an explanation of what your body will be going through and puberty.

Full sex ed where you watch "the miracle of life" and put condoms on wood shlongs wasn't until highschool. I think starting at grade 1 is too young and don't think they should be teaching about anal sex as abstinence in grade 7. They poop from there, exit only.

ok, i remember some of this stuff, but not condoms and wooden schlongs..lol
i do remember already knowing what they were talking about though. not really learning anything.
I dont recall them talking about gays . teach anal... no.. field questions, yes. answer truthfully.

I think it was grade 5 for my intro stuff as well but that included some information on reproduction not just anatomy and puberty.

I don't believe the curriculum would advocate anal sex as abstinence. Merely that it is a thing, some people do it, and there are risks. Exit only is your opinion, but not a universally accepted fact. Some folks enjoy a drive down a dirt road.

Sure you aren't naive enough to believe that some kids are doing 'stuff' in grades 8 an 9. Should those kids be equipped with some sort of familiarity with the risks and risk mitigation techniques? Or wait till after to tell them what they should have done?

I agree with top part. cant remember bottom part..lol

If parents were being parents and not their kids best friend, yes.

BINGO !!!!! if only we could SMASH this into peoples heads.

Yes, I was Shocked to hear that as well. But i dont think its as rampant as it implies. I have actually heard stories about... i dont even want to say... makes me sick . anyways.. i think its very low number of children that are active in 6-7. 8-9 is more likely i think. it was for me.lol

My mom told me about sex and reproduction when I was 6. I remember kids in grade 3/4 fooling around at the back of the bus. Grade 7, 8 or 9 is way too late.
3-4? holy **** wtf where did you go to school ? if you were a guy, I'd make some priest sex joke. lol

Pretty much all of this is spot on.

See, you fit the stereotype. Its not rampant, but its significant enough. Im married to a Paediatric clinical nurse, the ages and schools years are portrayed accurately. Its largely geographic and does play to a demographic but don't think its scuttlebung Saskatchewan, its Oakville, Burlington and Rosedale. I'm so glad my kids are through this phase of life.

I don't know how to multi quote on Tapatalk, so I'm just going to say everything here.
The link to the dumb internet things- you can't fix stupid, and most of those posts originated from the US. I think we can stop there.
Grade 3-4? I started early, but not that early. They should be playing with dolls and cars.
I like to think I know what's up. My 11 year old is not on fb, Twitter, instagram etc.
His phone is pay as you go, and I pay for it, so I have access. Same goes with the tablet.
When he was 8 he asked to get an Instagram account, I set it up, he told his friends. Before he was allowed to accept any requests, I had to look through their accounts. Man, even I was shocked. 8 year olds with pics of guns, girls in bikinis/ nude (not friends, older age, internet stuff) referring to girls as b*tches. He said that was one of the bad kids. I pulled the plug on that asap. He was content playing Kirby games on his Nintendo.
Now he's asking about people calling a kid in his class gay, so we discussed that. He mentioned he likes girls with blonde hair, so we talked about that. The other day he said a girl on the bus has a crush on another girl. I said really? And he said yeah, she's bisexual. And so the talk began....
It was much easier when he asked his mom years ago how he came out of her, and she responded with "head first". Lol.
I monitor my son, so I think I have a pretty good handle on it. But I have friends that don't even know that their kids are on social media. I had to explain to them what their kids were doing.
But at the end of it, I'm still learning, and just doing the best I can.

You sound like you've gotten it right.

This stuff is for actual parents to teach their kids about, not through co-parenting by the education board.

But the problem is, many parents don't teach their kids about it, or they give hem mis-information, you know, like homosexuality is a choice and god sends those sinners to eternal hell.
