What pickup truck do you use?

I use a 3500 Dodge dualie now with a Cummins diesel. Awesome truck but too heavy for most. My last truck was an 04 Ram 4x4 with a 4.7L it was a great all around truck enough jam for most uses and good fuel mileage. ALWAYS buy n
more truck than you need. Better to have more and not need it than need it and dont have it.

I have a 2005 F150 FX4 super crew with 5.4 and it's not that bad on fuel. But I have to agree it's really high and makes loading a bike in the back extremely hard unless you have a few people around to help out..

Compared to what? A transport truck? People can convince themselves of anything I guess.

2013 Tacoma access cab,long box,4x4.I ordered it with the 2.7l 4 banger.I get 26mpg combined and about 30 hwy.

So it has to be stick shift cause I had the exact same truck except it was 2010 and not many around had to wait for it to be built in new mexico and shipped, but I've upgraded to the double cab six banger limited edition..... much nicer lotsa chrome and lotsa goodies

Mine is just like Mina suggested. '06 Tacoma with access cab, 4X4 and short box. 3" lift with 20" wheels. Best truck I've ever owned and I've had a few. I got mine for $14,995 at a small dealer out in Belleville. When I was writing up the paperwork the salesman said they sold it way to low. 179k on the odometer. It now has just over 200. Mine has the 4L which is okay on gas. Not as bad as a full size but not great either. Mine is a 6 speed manual which helps on the fuel as well. I usually only have one of my bikes in the back. I like closing the tailgate when hauling so I put the bike in diagonally.

I had an older F150, it was absolutely brutal when it came to fuel economy. 4.6 engine. Manual transmission was horrible as well. Large and deep bed though. Mid size trucks can't compare.

OP - can you tow a trailer? Could be a cheap option. Many passenger vehicles can tow around 2,000lbs which should be enough for 2 bikes. Easier to load than a truck.

I hear ya bud got rid of mine with 135 000 same brakes on it since new..... put gas..... change oil and air filtre and go.

Nope,it's auto.

Too bad it wasn't offered in 2010,If I wanted 4x4 it had to be stick great little truck none the less. They go forever
I'm really impressed with the torque it has.I think it would be pushing it to tow a trailer, but i have no intentions of that.I'm actually looking forward to winter roads between home in Waterloo and work in Guelph.
It's not a full size, but i can get the trackbike and my trials bike in no problem.

2003 chevy s10 4x4, crew cab. Galvanized body. 4.3L. Bike fits with tail gate down. And a cap and enclosed trailer for more distant tracks.

My 2011 chevy 2500 duramax hauls my PW50 with ease! I can even pull a small utility trailer with a riding lawn mower. Let's see a Ridgeline do that!

Dodge ram 2500hd with 5.9 cummins turbo diesel. Regular cab, long box, average around 23-28 mpg, doesn't matter what I'm pulling! When I plug in the Smarti jr, it runs 500hp and 920ft-lb of torque. Wahoo!
My dad has a Tacoma 2wd, 2.5l with 5 speed manual, last summer he towed a vstar1100, and an intruder 800 on a 6x10 aluminum trailer to BC, it did the job but didn't like it.

I don't need to convince myself of anything.. I really couldn't care less how much fuel it uses, I get a little better then the 52 feet to the gallon that u think it gets.. I've had 6 cyl vehicles that were harder on fuel then this truck.. And yes for a big heavy truck with a big V8 it's not bad on fuel.. People can convince themselves that they know everything I guess.. Have a good day

OP, have you ever tried loading a bike into 1500 pickup truck? It's a big PITA in my opinion. Get a smaller pickup (ranger, tacoma, sonoma), or even better get a trailer.

If it were me I'd be considering either a Ridgeline or Avalanche (and I am). I know the Ridgeline isn't a "real" truck but if I only need it to haul some random junk a couple times a year and a pair of bikes, you don't need a "real" truck. Plus, if the reliability of the trucks at work, which are often falling apart way before 100k and a few of which have had engine or transmission replacements in the first 50k, I don't trust GM reliability.

I have a full size chev with a 5.3 that's terrible on fuel as well, I'm with you man...just saying I find it hilarious when people who own vehicles that are literally the WORST on fuel that you can buy say "its not bad on fuel"
