What is up with people?

What's the deadline for experience record? They didn't use to kick you out, a delay does delay your paperwork (and hopefully raise) though.
For the EIT program, you are supposed to have completed the PEO test and submit an experience record by the time you hit 4 years of experience, for me thats end of this month.

The line from the email that I received when I applied 3 years ago was "This email confirms that your P.Eng. application will maintain an active status until June 30th, 2021." Not sure what happens after that date.

You can keep renewing it for X times. I only kept my EIT for the massive insurance discount.

Got an email 2 weeks ago this is my last shot for experience record…I graduated in 2003. I’ll work on it tomorrow.

Your EIT cancels, you pay to get reinstated, and go through the same dilemma in 4 years. Been repeating since 2003.

Just echoing the original post with another example.....

Highly educated friend needs two admins (aka. data entry and secretarial work.) These positions pay similar to the rates we've spoken about here (20%-30% above min wage, benefits, vacation, etc.)

They find an engineer who stated "field is too sexist." Everyone else seemed too stupid (did not answer how they would deal with ambiguity or stress very well.) We had a drunken chat on the weekend and I theorized "maybe the engineers weren't sexist; maybe she sucks at her job which provoked the sexist remarks. She's clearly downgrading positions." The group I was with is full of highly successful women btw.

This week is almost over. I've heard non-stop comments about "the new secretary keeps asking me questions and my annoyance is seeping out; if she thinks a little she'd be fine."

She's getting fired very soon unless she pulls a 180.

How does society raise the bar?

Does this happen?

$2000 combined per hour is sitting in the boardroom because project A is about to fall off the fence into the wrong yard. After a few hours coffee is needed but $30 per hour at their desk "Doesn't make coffee" so one of the $2000 per hour types does it. The meeting is interrupted because everyone's input is needed

Not my place of business, contract explicitly says "pleased to offer you the position of X and whatever other duties as assigned by the GM or his representative."

Years back i asked the HR manager about it, "so what does other duties really mean?"

"it means if the GM tells you to go outside and paint the walls that's what the company expects."

Very often sadly.

Myself and other developers have been put on data entry before. Quitting happens shortly after if the devs pick up this is a management oversight lol

If it took 3 minutes to make a coffee, that was a $100 coffee.

We used to have a “coffee lady” (it was official title btw) at one company I used to work for exactly for this reason. It might be considered anti-feminist now, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pretty sure it's this thread somebody asked about social skills and gaming. This man thinks the apocalypse will be humans strapped into virtual reality with their digital girl friend/boy friend and their sexual organs on haptic feedback.

....I'm not disagreeing with him considering r/ForeverAlone this subreddit consists of real humans who aren't trolling about their misery lol

"You'll be able to go out on a date with an AI that has temper tantrums and sometimes doesn't put out."

I'm not sure if I should be laughing at the obscenity of the above mental image, or disturbed that it is very likely to happen.

If there was one standard of wireless access cards all buildings used, banking and had a rolling RSA encryption so it's secure.

I'd have one installed in my wrist. No more overloaded wallet, or keys to ever worry about. 🤣

One winter I was working at the entrance to a building and required a pass card. it was a PITA to dig it out of a pocket every time I went in so I stuck it in the back side of my glove and just backhand tapped to open the door. A guy watching me thought you just had to smack the pad. I let him play a while before I "noticed" and told him to get a pass card.
