What is a reasonable amount of time between new bike purchase and pick up?

So I purchased a new bike on march 11th and today marks three weeks since I bought. The dealer STILL cannot provide me with a date that the bike will be ready for pick up. Am I right in being ****** off? Or is this wait normal? I'm not sure if I'm overly harsh because there has been some other hiccups in the process so far, or if this is in fact too long. Insurance and financing were approved / set up shortly after the purchase.

My last two were new bikes. Other were ready in 5 days and neither were even in their warehouse when I purchased. next time don't go to kahuna. I'd be ****** off too

Yeah. You wouldn't believe how much I'm regretting that decision already.

I'm sorry. Does your contact have an exit clause if the dealer doesn't have the product and cannot tell you when it will arrive?

Back of your contact says that the dealer has "90 days" before they have to notify you it won't be arriving on time..

Who knows what they're doing over there.

Have you tried to get in contact with the GM?

To the people that were paying attention to my string of posts, the dealership and the salesman are the same headache..

@paul1000rr helped me and pointed me in the right direction.

Doesn't seem to. The only relevant part is what JCHC91 mentioned, that they have 90 days.

Kahuna, of course... They really are proving their reputation here.

Best of luck.

You mention that "there have been other hiccups in the process." I don't know what you mean by that, but I can assure you that if it were humanly possible you would have taken delivery by March 31 because the owner always mandates that all deals in the pipe line be completed by month's end so he can pay his creditors. I sense that you are experiencing a failure on the part of your sales rep to communicate with you effectively. Like the others said, ask for clear reasons for the delay. If the answers are unsatisfactory ask to talk to the manager.

Might depend on the bike and what options he wants on it. If its a new model, they may be in high demand and getting them out of the factory as fast as they can. I know with BMW, some guys wait a very long time for a new GS/A they follow the production line to the shipping container till it reaches N. America and is trucked wherever they are. Now this might not be the case for you, but 3 weeks for some would be a dream.

When I purchased my used bike last year, (early May). I saw it on the sales floor on Tuesday evening, told them I would take it when they did the Oil change and predelivery inspection. (I had my plates from other bike so I just gave them the old registration).

I picked the bike up about noon that Saturday. I had given them insurance via email and then I took my plates in they installed them and I drove it home.

Now it IS that time of the season when dealerships are usually VERY busy getting bikes ready for clients, service bays are full etc so a week perhaps 2 might not be unreasonable, (also with this weather it really wasn't riding weather until a few days ago). But I would suggest calling and speaking to the GM and asking where your bike that you will be there at NOON on Friday to take delivery or get a FULL and complete refund. Be polite but firm. If you start causing a scene at this point they "may" given their history, decide to exercise all their rights and invoke that 90 day clause that JC had posted earlier is on the rear of your contract nad just out of spite make you wait longer than necessary.

Unfortunately you did your financing and put down a heavier deposit than I did...

In addition to above, Salesman at hand is a douche and anything that isn't in his favor he will shoot down with no problem and blame it on company policy. It's best not to deal with him anymore and go straight to the individual who has more authority than your salesman.

Letting each day pass by that you do not get this resolved is a day closer to their game being played out, if it is a game at all.

Like hedo2002 suggested do not make a scene when you talk to the GM.

I can say for a matter of fact that everyone except this salesman is more bearable to deal with.

They will try to get you to make do and come to terms with your salesman, but by no means do that. Be adamant that you need to talk to the GM and tell them that you've already attempted to reason with the salesman multiple times and are concluding that there will be no progress.

This is why I won't put a deposit down on a CBR650F right now -- aside from wanting to see it in person and sit on it, no one can give me an ETA at all when it will even be in Canada.

I can't wait for this either . They'll most likely have it at Honda's rock the red next year.
I was inquiring about the Honda 650 when I was with Kahuna and they said that itd be in soon

I got my bike brand new from Milton Honda. From the date I paid for it, it took 6 days to be delivered to my house. They even threw in dilvery for free and I live in East End Scarborugh / Pickering Border. I good 135km round trip drive.
