What happens to people like this?

I'm almost certain they won't get what they deserve (life in prison.)

It's a white collar crime, similar to hacking, which gets you very little prison time compared to blue collar crime.

Hope he takes it up the ass though and goes bankrupt.

I am switching jobs so I can have a livable salary :(
Anyway I don't want to derail the convo here. Fact is, everyone has a 'lifestyle' that they try and maintain / portray.

@george__ I sold my motorcycle, have no car, and mostly play video games for good reasons lol

Run a projection against SP500 (or even TSX's index) for the past 50 years for how much you spend on the motorcycle and car; get ready to puke.

I hope he takes it up the ass, has to repay all funds, and goes bankrupt. Because if he doesn’t have to pay it back….free money. What’s a few months in jail when you come out to many millions in your bank account?

Yeah....also that money is tax money no? lol

Many fraudies are quite intelligent.
They're able to bamboozle the system and the Ontario parole board in particular.
Ambitions to sweep up some crumbs from the system is setting the bar about as low as one can go and as far as the parole board its been said that corrections Canada is an entity upon itself...
Clever and intelligent are different critters entirely

Parole boards, both federal and provincial are independent.
There's a Parole Board of Canada which as it's name indicates handles offenders in the federal system, but it's not part of Corrections Canada per se. The board reports to the minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
In Ontario the Parole board is one of 14 quasi-judicial agencies under Tribunals Ontario.

My bad ,good luck with your endeavors.

if millions are involved...they will do years, if proven.

Not always... Lol.

I've been in on hearings where someone who defrauded their employer of less than $100K and used the money to cover care for a disabled adult daughter, rent, food etc. Parole... Denied.
This person was also subject to a restitution order, so... They were required to pay back the $ they took

Same day.. 'Someone who defrauded their employer out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to finance a lavish lifestyle... Parole granted.
Sentence did not include a restitution order...

It all boils down to class and how slick a lawyer you have.

The slick lawyer also invoices a unusually high "transcription fee" of 10 or 20k as well,go figure.

If I stole 500k or more…I’d want the slickest lawyer I could find.

@george__ ive been thinking about your comment regarding being greedy and it made me look at my group of friends.

Interestingly enough, my Canadian born friends are all happy with their life, seemingly content, and happy with their salaries.

My immigrant friends on the other hand are always looking for more. More money for whatever. They are the rental unit owners, have their own businesses, have multiple side gigs making cash on the side. All have larger houses, better cars and are working their ass off compared to the Canadians, but you can clearly see a difference in the mindset of both groups.

Hell if I could have a side hustle that would bring me an extra 1-2k/month I’d be on it and trying to grow it as much as I could.

Sell pierogies. Gives your mother in law something to do and generates the income you want. Yumm. I'd buy some.

I'd say sell limoncello too, but that's stepping on govt revenue so they'd be on you like white on rice. It's strange how grumpy they get if you take away their income but they barely care if you steal from them once they have it.

Almost all of my friends are like this. Most aren't immigrants but children of them. Hell, there's one guy who's 24, bought his first condo, lives with his parents, then renovated the condo to rent it out. Our buddy, who's 30, constantly makes fun of him via "how are you gonna get laid by living with your parents?"

Imo, if a girl is stupid enough to not realize a smart man when she sees one, she can go **** right off lol. But the 30 year old's mindset is far more common cause how to get laid? lol

Children of fighters (either immigrants or business owners) often do very well. The grandkids on the other hand are often useless bags of skin. They just see the pile of money but little of the struggle required to build it. Surprise, surprise, JT is a grandkid of the guy that made the family fortune.

EDIT:
Thinking about this more, this happens far more often than it doesn't. If I am in the position to leave my kids with a substantial inheritance, I may need to set something up to protect the grandkids from themselves. My favorite strategy so far is a trust that pays out based on your salary with a multiplier for social good. If you work a normal job, it pays a percentage (eg make 50K, get 25K top up). If you work a job that is good for society but pays crap, for instance a social worker, make 30K, get 50K top up. Obviously you need a decent pool of money to make it worthwhile to set it up and operate it. If you decide to be a useless wanker that wants to live off your inheritance and not work, you get zero and the money stays in the pool for more useful people.

The amount of pierogies to make a solid side income would be ridiculous.

She’s a seamstress and cook by trade so I keep telling her to get on it. But the little one has her busy all day. I say let the woman rest.

As for the limoncello, guess I’d have to jump through massive hoops to become legal in that. A few GTAMers have tried it and all have requested some more…so I guess it is tasty!

I have read and heard multiple horror stories from ppl in their late 20s to early 30s getting completely destroyed by crystal meth. More often than not...they were rich, nothing could have possibly ****** them except themselves =(

This is so sad. I’m happy to say I’ve never seen any of my friends destroyed by drugs. Some hard drinkers that stopped cold turkey because their hearts couldn’t take it. My biggest drinker in the group has effectively not had a drink in a year. Super happy for him.

As for drugs…unless they’re really good at hiding it, I don’t know anyone on anything harder than weed.

I don't know of anyone that uses meth or crack (and I doubt they could hide it) but a shocking number of people use nose candy. It's much easier to hide.

crack dealers look for guys with good jobs and their own homes. its money, and they want to get it. beyond greedy.

here my friend lets party no charge ? for this. I know where to get more...

they look to meet people with money - and drain them of everything
