What games do you play?

I used to be a PC gamer but got tired of spending the equivalent of a new console (or more!) every year to keep the PC strong enough to play the new games.

Favourite all-time motorcycle-themed game was Microsoft's Motocross Madness 2, it was a blast. Terribly outdated by today's standards but still fun.

Not much time to play these days but when I do I play Borderlands 2 on an XB360. It's a riot playing solo but where it really shines is coop mode. Four player coop is insane!

Never got into COD/BF/GTA... not my thing.

Also enjoyed the last couple of Fallout games though Skyrim (basically Fallout with dragons) didn't thrill.

Those days are over and done with unless you want to be on the bleeding edge in terms of graphics. I too remember when a year old system was curbside material.

I have a three year old system that plays latest games (Crysys, Metro 2 etc) without any issues on mid level graphics. Graphics that blow PS3 and Xbox360 out of the water.

Yup ... I am using an i5-2500K, it is about two years old, and for gaming purposes it's effectively still top of the line. I just bought a 7950 video card (they were heavily discounted as they were being discotinued) but I fully expect it to serve me well for a few years. You only "need" a top of the line video card if you are hoping to drive a monitor with crazy high resolution.

Well, it looks as if i spoke to quickly.

I looked at Call of Duty Ghosts requirements....Windows 7 64 bit, 6 gb of RAM, GTX family of video cards.

So much for that....how do they justify that when XBOX360 and PS3 run much older hardware?

Is that recommended requirements or minimum requirements?

World of Tanks (same handle as here).

X Rebirth (when it launches in a couple of days).

And patiently awaiting Chris Robert's new brainchild, Star Citizen, which is fully crowd-funded and has managed to collect over $27 million so far.

MINIMUM....

Its the 64bit OS that messes you up. 32bit windows wont recognize more than 4GB of ram, so you have to step up to 64bit.

I'm on the fence here....i dont do a lot of gaming, but i do wanna upgrade my rig. Its funny, i kinda want stuff to mess up so i can replace it with better.

I've used the same tower, water cooling system since 2002, never failed, just kept swapping out the components...

I'm still running a dual core from 6yrs ago. Have a Gtx 650 vid card. Still ran blops 2 at 1080p @ 60 fps.

My cpu is overclocked though

Dude i hear ya, i got a watercooled overclocked triple cored AMD, have no issues playing any games.

COD wont even let you install and try to run it without seeing 64bit OS. BS if you ask me.

Oh and i love some "recommended" requirements for Windows 8. When they make that a minimum requirement, that game aint getting played, EVER.

You're in REL_3? That's respectable

wow and your clocks are still holding up ?

About 2 years ago I had to put everything back on stock, probably too much voltage. stock e4500 and a 4870. I can't even run netflix properly.

Still holding up. But had to drop the speed, might be due to changes in hardware ie ram & vid card. Had to bump up the voltage. But yeh nothing burnt out for 6yrs. Not sure if my Ram crapped out from that.

I have an i7 920 @ 4.0 ghz, 670 GTX OCed past 680 speeds and 24GB of ram. If I put all the costs together, I've paid around $500 year including peripherals and upgrades (monitor, mouse, keyboard) since I built the computer in 2008. In the end, PC gaming is MUCH more expensive than console gaming and is also a huge headache if you don't want to deal with settings. PC gaming is also a pain in the *** to develop for because the hardware is not unified. I used to build a gaming grade PC every year costing around $2,000~. However, riding has superseded my nerd addiction so I focus on buying medium-high tier parts rather than high-extremely stupid tier parts. This cuts costs down by more than 66%.

I'll always be a PC gamer though because I prefer customization over ease-of-use but this is the primary reason why console gaming overtook PC gaming =(

Dammit, I spent the whole evening last night until 2 am digging out my XBOX 360 console (haven't used it for 4-5 years), hooking it up in the chain of things I have in my entertainment system, etc.. all in effort to check out the MotoGP'13 demo and see if I like the game. Then I found out it's not even available in Canada yet (not the demo, not the game for purchasing...). Anyone played SBK X and any of the other MotoGP games? Which one is more realistic?

Picked up Bioshock Infinite last night, played until early AM, will continue tonight :D

They're all relatively the same. They all run on the same game engine. Fairly realistic. I have motogp '08 and it is pretty hard. Gotta trail brake like crazy which usually ends up in a low side half way through a race after which many moments of controller throwing induced rage occur.
