What did you do to your track/race bike today

Can anyone tell my how the hell an aluminum cooling system can build up brown, nasty, chunky rust?
Mine came out like milk curds, white chunky stuff :(

I used distilled water this time rather than de-ionized filtered. I guess we'll see.

Loblaws has a machine out front that will fill a large water cooler jug with reverse osmosis/de-ionised water for $3. That's about as clean as you can get for water if you're interested in trying that. You need a water cooler container though to use it or something similar that will fit.

Crappy tire sells it cheaper than that, I think... depends on what you mean by "large" jug, though.

I have an RO/DI system left over from my aquarium days. Maybe I should go into the business of selling water.

I don't know how it compares to Loblaws but Big Als aquariums stores sell RO/DI water.

The Big Als stuff will be better, more filters. The Loblaws stuff is OK. I use it for my marine aquarium :)

Loaded mine and Dave's bikes up. Put spare practice tires on spare rims. Snuggled safely in my garage. Ready for the slug fest on Sunday. 8 degrees .... Rain.... Booourns

Curious, how wide is that trailer?

Hey Dave, I noticed in your SV650 post for sale that you have home-made rearset riser plates. If you know, can you share some tips on how I can make such for myself (what material, other tips, where to find the material)? I currently have riser plates that are moving the pegs up 1 inch and back 1 inch, but I'm short and it makes me put more pressure to the handlebars like that. I'm thinking I'll much more like it if it was just 1 inch up without going back. Here's what I currently have:

Edit: Apparently I'm not the only one with such needs, here's a pic I found of someone making something like the thing I need:

I use 1/4" thick 6061-T6 aluminum plate. It's easy to cut, file, drill and tap. Nothing really special about making them, and since you already have some that makes it easier because you don't have to measure. If you're going to go to the effort I'd say make them big with lots of positions. You never know what position might work best until you try it.

Great! Looks like I have a small project now :D Now gotta find where to source 1/4inch 6061-T6 alloy.
