What did you do in your garage today..?

Raccoon huggers I guess. They say relocation is very stressful, particularly for city raccoons who have become dependent on subsidized food and housing.

the term "huggers" (aka tree huggers,) it makes me laugh when people use this word in a derogatary manner. even for racoons lol

history shows tree huggers were 100% spot on.... and still are

Considering our oceans are dying, forests are burning, and our atmospere's ozone layer was just recently barely saved thanks to scientific minds, hard work, political actions, and tree hugger donations...

so to make fun of huggers doesn't float anymore; and displays a short sighted outlook at the most serious issue facing the human population.

This is serious stuff and should be treated as such. every day.

In my mind there is a difference between a hugger and an informed activist.

I reserve hugger for the uneducated disciples who find Happiness in rallying against the establishment WITHOUT the support of science.

Not all trees are there to be saved, we need some for toothpicks.

Damn leeches and free loaders.

Have they tried pulling themselves up by the bootstraps!? Wait…what thread am I in?

Soldered up the plumbing to connect the new outdoor hose bib. Now the only thing left is finding the actually part somewhere in Canada.

Anyone have a line on a Woodford 22CP-10 (or 22C-10)? Bardon has 12" which could work if it has to but the 10" would be better. Amazon can bring it in from the states but I try to give local companies money if possible.

This place has quite a bit of unobtanium:

I usually solder my plumbing as well but opted to use the shark bite fittings for my recent hose bib install. Boy was it super convenient. We’ll see how it lasts over time, also more expensive.

I know they work most of the time but I've seen a failed sharkbite destroy a basement. I won't use them for a permanent install. Having a sharkbite test cap easily accessible for every pipe size in your house is a great idea. If something fails, cut the pipe and pop on the cap. Doesn't matter if it's wet or if it has really hit the fan, you can even do it with full water flow.

I Just sent a message to my kid, he distributes them. He’ll check his stock in the am, I’ll let you know tomorrow.

We just moved our plant and did a ton of air and water lines. A shark bite feeding out new eyewash failed, fortunately is just pisses a few thousand gallons against a block wall.

I’ll never trust them.

I wonder if the prep work (smoothing the rough cuts so they don’t score the fitting) has anything to do with this?

Either way now you got me thinking about redoing all the fittings with solder as I normally would have. Geez thanks Mike

I am certain that if you pay proper attention to that, and make sure the sides of the tubing are not scratched or scuffed, the fittings are virtually foolproof. I know the facilities/maintenance dept of a local uni uses them now instead of soldered.

Big business gets sucked into sharkbites and/or press to avoid the hassle of hot work permits and fire watch.

If sharkbites are done properly they are probably ok. How many sharkbites have people seen where the insertion depth was marked, the piping was unmarred, etc. Sadly most people just slam them together and hope for the best.

Ya, the hot work permits are a PITA for sure.

Finished insulating the attic over the garage today. 2nd time, donated the first try to Racoons.

I have a ton of them in the house never had a leak they should last as long as the PEX and flow better than the crimp connectors. No worries if they are done right.
