What did you do in your garage today..?

Got the front brakes set up on the Wing project. Pushing the fluid up from the bottom with a large syringe, along with the proper crush washers and I had awesome hard brakes. No sponge at all in the lever.
I've started to build the mold for a fiberglass tail piece. Now I need more decent cardboard to cut the templates from....
There shpuld be tons of cardboard available next garbage day.

Of course, but I'm one of those nutters who will want all the cardboard to be the same thickness, free of packing tape, preferably all the same colour....

Finally went and collected my receipts out of the back of my bike from my Iron Butt ride in October and submitted them all to the IBA for verification. Figured I'd best do that before they all got lost. Had meant to do it long ago.

Is there a deadline after completion of a ride?

What where? No snow in Toronto, makes it feel like no snow anywhere, but it will be like +8 tomorrow.
There's was plenty of snow on the ground from Orangeville north back on December 13th when I went up to Blue. I've been out once more and will be going again tomorrow with my son and grandson.
Sorry it took so long to respond. I haven't been able to get onto the site since the server change. I finally figured out the problem.

No, some people submit them years later. As long as you still have all the supporting documentation, photos, etc, you’re good.

I know a few people have got caught with their pants down when their Spotwalla (a GPS logging / tracking app commonly used in the iron butt community) account deleted their data after they failed to renew, however. Spotwalla is a pretty important part of the equation now to prove you didn’t take any shortcuts that would affect your total mileage.

You can still go completely oldschool snd stop and get a dated business receipt at each and every little wiggle off the route Google Maps would otherwise suggest, ie when you went straight and made a 90° turn 60 miles later (adding 30 miles to your route) - A, B, C style vs A to C shortcut type thing, where the latter wouldn’t have that 30 Miles.

They are pretty firm on documentation to avoid cheating, and when your route is particularly complicated with lots of turns like that it can become onerous trying to get receipts in enough places to properly document things, Spotwalla makes life so much easier.

One step forward two steps back 🤦🏻‍♂️

Got the hole enlarged on the windshield, and got it installed after an hour of swearing and then an hour of looking for a stupid sleeve / washer…I heard PING PING and then it was never found again. Damnit.

I’ll look again but just installed it without the washer because I couldn’t find it for the life of me, and it’s aluminum so no go with a magnet.

Then I gave the trailer a new winter gown…

Went out and opened the garage doors to do some work out there, but with the sudden temperature increase today coupled with the moist conditions, boom, everything covered in condensation.

I'm running heater and dehumifier in garage right now. No condensation but it was at about 70% rh. I need to swap fluids in diffs and trans so trying to dry things out so I don't have mud dripping on me.

The only heaters I have out there are propane, so of course, that just makes the condensation issue worse unless/until I run them all for long enough to physically heat up everything on the bike as well.

Do you wax or ceramic coat the paint?
That is a beautiful red with what appears to be a hint of orange maybe?
Lemon Pledge. KISS. :)

Honestly, it works great, leaves a beautiful shine, seems to keep dust attraction to a minimum. And it's fast - I really don't like cleaning and polishing much honestly.

I was using the famous Honda spray polish for a while, but actually found that the good old lemon pledge worked better on this particular colour paint.

The bike is just a dark red, no orange. That photo is a little misleading with the condensation and lighting.

The only problem with lemon pledge is that there's no UV blockers in it. I've tried the Honda stuff as well and found it lacking. "303 Aerospace Protectant" or "Carpro Perl" can both be had for peanuts and are excellent on all surfaces. I'd use "Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic" on the red painted surfaces as it's cheap and works/lasts amazingly.

A shop in Marietta OH had the Honda spray cleaner polish on sale for $6 a can years ago. I purchased 4 or 5 cans of the stuff and have been pretty happy with it.

Car got some love today. Changed fluid in both diffs, awd and trans. Put on some different snows. Sanded and painted some spots where rust was rearing its head (10 locations). Installed a trailer hitch (which required pulling the bumper and some of the rust was on the quarters adjacent to the bumper so thats how i ended up down that road).
