What did you do in your garage today..?

Lightcycle and google advise there’s a common occurrence with the water pump hose clamp not tightened enough from factory and causing leaks. Unfortunately to get to it you really need to pull the tank. Well at least now I know how to do that (coles notes: lotsa screws). That clamp got tightened 1.5 turns so we’ll see if that fixes it. Couldn’t locate an obvious leak anywhere unfortunately and everything else including all 8mm bolts were tight. Going to leave it partially apart to see if leak still happens and also going to do an oil change as well.
Nice garage space

Replaced the carb and air filter on my cousins mower. Surprising that it works as the original carb had a spring to shoot the air valve closed…the new one doesn’t. Yet it works fine…

That's a pretty professional looking lawnmower repair setup.,

I fixed my bike with a hammer. Noticed that one of my touratech cases had a dent in from when I wiped out on a trail so I fixed it with a hammer. Looks good as new, sort of. Also I feel like this is a milestone in bike ownership.

Treated myself to some Pazzo levers too so those arrive soon and will be fitted. Long clutch and short brake since that’s how I’m riding these days. My hands are older and I think I may have the start of arthritis in one so I’m hoping I can adjust these for maximum ergos.

Well….the “5 minute job” promised of swapping out levers turned into a bit of a mare. First the clutch lever doesn’t fit with the OEM handguards despite being listed as “fits xxxx bike”. So I thought, no biggie, let’s add some spacers to the handguard end and move it out a bit. The bolt came out unusually easily…probably because it’s missing the internal expansion piece that grips the bar on tightening the bolt. It’s a complete mystery as to where that’s gone and even more of a mystery as to why the bolt didn’t already fall out the bar end. Bodged up a tight fitting rubber washer and some duct tape to grip everything while I source a self expanding bar insert. Managed to find three -potential options from Fortnine…so ordered all of them. That was after spending 40mins at the Harley/Honda dealership trying to see if they had a suitable part…which they didn’t because they don’t store any Honda parts that might have fitted (I guessed Harleys don’t really go in for after market handguards). I did check out their ADV bikes but at 24k starting that seemed a bit rich for me.

Will see if Pazzo/Bayside can send me a shorty clutch lever or check to see if I got a duff length version. I originally ordered the OEM length one.

I've had them slide towards the middle of the handlebar when I had them turned in a way that elevated them. Turning them the other way and, if necessary, leaning the bike over usually gets them out.

Magnet on a stick can work too ( assuming they are at least partially steel).

I could see something deep inside the bar but it wasn’t budging. I’ll check again and see if I can get it loose. I tried with coat hanger wire.

5 min job of swapping levers is now extending into something I didn’t expect. Dealer who’s website told me the levers would fit my bike is accusing me of ordering the incorrect part, have to pay for shipping back etc. Waiting to see what the outcome is here as I’ve pointed out that I wouldn’t have ordered them if they had the correct info. I went on the actual Pazzo website and they have extra information about the long levers and handguards that is missing from the dealer website.

Finished putting this wheel together. Some were following the bearing install thread. This wheel was originally a single disc but Honda made some provisions for the second disc. ToIMG_1140.JPG make it work I needed to modify the speedo drive.

I also drilled the discs (paper template, center punch and drill press) which I think turned out really nice.
It turns out an orbital palm sander and 120 grit do a really nice job of cleaning up the discs.
