What are you getting your significant other for xmas?

been together over 2 years, and she is getting a Kindle, we bought a house this year, plus going south for xmas, but even if it wasn't for all these expenses I don't think I would spend more than $300, and wouldn't want her spending more than that on me.

10/10

I literally spit up on my keyboard, I could hear a voice in my head after reading your reply: "Ahhh, the gift that keeps on giving..."

Well done.

<golf clap>

In further developments my wife has been nagging about getting one of those cartridge type coffee makers for what seems like about 20 years now. She even suggested I get her one for Christmas which would have seriously screwed my gameplan. And then my son walks in the other day with his present to me and the missus. A Keurig cartridge coffee maker, and even the model she wanted. I think it was worth the 23 years of his **** just for that one moment of awesomeness.

So i'm still on plan to get her nowt. Which is looking even more likely as I've just spent $400 with Bluestreak.

I've got one of these at my work, my place and my parents house (different models). Good product,...a little expensive per coffee when you do the math but worth it for the laziness factor.

Go to ECS Coffee Warehouse in Burlington for some great deals.

Married 10 years,

Got her a Garmin gps watch (she's a runner) & we're leaving xmas morning for a Disney trip followed by a cruise. I also was kind enough to email her pics of the Alpinestars boots I'd be interested in if she were to stumble into a bike shop during her free time!

Took her to punta Cana, along with son and his gf. Hard rock resort..."chilling on balcony right now with beer. Free wifi thru out entire resort. So far best Christmas ever!

Wait... the thing you choose to mention is free wi-fi?

that is amazing!

Decided to bite the bullet, because money isnt tight right now, but it just isnt right. So Im getting her some bread and sandwich meat. Sort of like a gift for both us in the end.

Did the exchange with the lady friend last night since we both have our own family stuff over the weekend and I'm heading out Friday afternoon.

She loved the stuff I got her (Thor backpack, stuffed koala bear and pink and white cycling socks), that made me feel all warm and squishy inside. She got me a Garmin GPS heart rate monitor, it's pretty wild. Definitely something that will help with training and I can't wait to give it a try.

You could have strapped it on last night you fool. Then you could have compared your heart rate between shagging and working out. Always good to know how many calories you're burning.

And why GPS? Don't you know where your heart is?

Ha!

Well if you'd like serious answers to your silly questions...
1) My Polar HR monitor (that does not have GPS) just uses a watch battery and will go years without needing a new one. The Garmin is power hungry, something to do with satellites and such, and comes with a charging dock. It needs to be charged up for 3+ hours before being set up for use. Tangent: Regarding using the HR monitor for silly activities. My resting HR is about 55bpm, while sitting on the couch watching the 2011 WSS race at Assen i wore it. Average was 95bpm, peak was 110bpm.

2) My bike has a computer so I can keep track of my speed but when running it's hard to keep track of how fast I'm going. If i want to get some podiums in du/triathlons it'll be improvements in my running that'll get me there. I'm already pretty fast on the bike (top 5%) but my running could use improvement. I'm a bit better than mid-pack right now, about 1/3 the way down the list, but compared to the people i finish around my running is slow. Having live feedback of my running pace would help. My race pace now is 4:45-4:48/km. If i can get it down to around 4:35/km that shold get me some podiums.

Couldn't find the other 'motorcycle gift' thread, so I figured I'll add this here. I got this from my fiancée and the kids - pretty cool for 'motorcycle-themed gifts under $50' category:
