We laugh at them, but...

I saw one yesterday night at the corner of Rexdale and Martin Grove during the peak of the snow storm. Visibility was low but the rider was out there. Hardcore is right!

I'm looking at it as if we were in charge of actually implementing a set of rules that suits pedestrians, cyclists, ebikes, inline skaters, kids, handicapped, bikers, scooters, sidewalks, parks, roadways. Everyone, everywhere. What are the princles that make it all make sense?

I understand the sense in saying that as a principle, any operator of a vehicle on the road should be licensed and insured. The problem I see is that it would likely be unenforceable, cost prohibitive and not acheive any of the goals that are sought. Couldn't cyclists be treated as legally uninsured motorists from the perspective of insurance. Since the risk and cost of damage is so small the additional cost would be imperceptible.

I dunno, I'm just trying to figure it out. It's especially interesting given the variety of new types of vehicles and roadways that may become more prevalent in the future.

I hate them. That said, they are bar none the fastest way to get around at rush hour. Even though I'd feel like a total idiot I'm tempted to get one. This whole 45 minutes to go 7 km isnt cutting it.

I really considered getting an e-bike before my first bike (CBR125) but when I saw the batteries die and guys lugging them up Kipling over the CN tracks...changed my mind pretty quick! LoL
I saw one on Monday in that snowstorm we were having...as well as a guy on a dirt bike riding on the sidewalk in Mississauga...I'm not sure what the cops would've done with that if they saw him...lol

Just rode through an ice storm. Had my visor up too because my glasses fog up (**** glasses, I'm getting laser eye surgery). Face is bleeding now but rest of me is good =D

Wow... Another reason, why you shouldn't ride in the winter...

Mine's okay I think...checked everything when I got home. Just takes .5 second to start up compared to summer.

Honestly, would have been fine if I wasn't an idiot and got lazy with my contacts. I blame having bat blind vision more than anything else.

I haven't wiped out this season from riding in light snow, ice rain, or a rain storm. Bike gives obvious "loss of traction" signs during those conditions, I just make the turns slow and with the bike up.
