We all laugh at these clowns on ebikes/escooters/whatever you wanna call them...
but those guys are hardcore!!

Everyday, regardless of temperatures/weather conditions, these guys are on the road...
freezing temps, rain, snow, you name it... they are still out on the roads...

kind of funny when you think of the disrespect most riders have have for them

I'm not commenting on intelligence driving a ebike in the freezing temps or snow, but i'll give them props LOL

Hey if my bike was only worth $500 and sure to rot away in just a few years anyways, I'd ride it through the winter too.

I don't laugh at these guys. At times I am envious. 1 time cost for bike purchase. They don't seem to have to follow any rules of the road. They ride wherever and whenever they want - sidewalks, parks. They park anywhere.

They are saving so much time and money over taking the bus. They are the ones laughing at us every time we have to renew our plate or insurance.

I wish I had an ebike when going to school or commuting to a local job.

The Scooter club is pretty solid!!
I was riding near leslie/lakeshore one thursday night, raining hard, i pull in to see whos hanging around, the only people there was the scooters. I told them they were more hardcore than moto group.

LOL!! Ya ok man!
Here's my 1998 model, ridden through 10 toronto winters, every day down to the docks, snow, ice, salt, you name it.
Look how ruined it is!!

I am not a Harley guy BUT that bike is killer.I would love to drive that bike everyday.
You should post a few more pics.
Later
Bob

I don't get it, why do bikers laugh at other people?

just because somone own a motorcycle does not automatically group that person into a band of brothers or somthing :\ ....

"ohhh look at me i hav a motorcycle, damn you have one too? *Kiaaa* lets be best friends and laugh at ebikes and bicycles herherherher derp durpp."

Agave - nice ride man!

The disrespect I have for e-bikes has nothing to do with their fortitude in riding in inclement weather and everything to do with them not following any traffic rules or common practices. I don't envy them at all. They are riding under powered death traps with crap brakes in heavy traffic and running pedestrians off the sidewalks. Not something I want to be doing, thanks.

WTF how do you manage that? Keep in mind I don't have access to a garden hose, or even a wash bay for that matter.

Look at all the damage, it was probably a nice matte before the salt exposed the horrible chrome underneath.

There's plenty of solutions, but keeping it clean and maintained works for anything you want to remain in good condition.
I have a 96 subaru, also rust free, original paint.
You don't need a hose if you have a bucket, a little soapy water before you park it is always nice if possible.
Pre-treating it is also recommended.
In my case, i use a teflon product for the chrome, and i use mineral oil, wd-40, whatever lube i can get my hands on, and butter the whole girl up once in awhile.
Problem is, most people just neglect their rides.
This stuff is pretty good, and its clear, i mostly use it in my car doors, rocker panels etc but you could coat a whole bike in it if you wanted.

The hardest part about riding down Lakeshore blvd on a snowy day, is trying to wave back at all the guys hanging out their car windows giving the thumbs up, but most people just think i'm crazy.

Any machine can be ridden on ice if you know what you're doing, it's all about the rider, not the bike.
Scooters are so light, it's even easier.

As for my bike, now she lives in the basement, in a perfect climate, next to my bedroom where it will never be harmed. :agave:.

I respect everyone on 2 wheels. That being said, if you're a moron when you ride, I won't like you because you're a moron.

Hats off to the guys that ride regardless of weather,

+1, they save so much on parking, insurance and gas comparing to those who ride a standard bike.. also they don't seem to have problem with traffic as they can ride on sidewalk if it's needed..

Do u have to wear sunglasses all the time to ride that thing??

I do this - it's fun and gets me where I need to as long as I confine myself to short distance trips.

If it's 3 C or above, the real bike comes out, but down to about -10 C or so, the e-bike is generally manageable unless it's unusually icy... snow and slush are not an issue. The thing's light enough that I can easily catch it if it starts going over, and I don't really care if it does hit the ground. Low enough (and slow enough) that I can even let my feet skate over the ground if it's really bad out. If it rusts... so what?

I barely touched the thing at all during the warm months, was having too much fun with the GS instead... but in this weather it gets me where I need to go without walking just fine.

Bring a patch kit, levers, and a pump - I've gotten two flats already this winter*. Fixing it roadside only takes about 30 minuts, though.

*Oddly neither blew out while moving, both were discovered after parking the bike and returning 5 minutes or so later.

should read "as they get away with illegally riding on sidewalk" IMO
