We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

The feds never intend to "buy back" these firearms...
There are already other classes of firearms that have been prohibited for decades that have remained in private possession.
These guns are effectively under house arrest. You can keep them, you just can't take them out of your house. Owners are "grandfathered" in, but once these people die these firearms are confiscated. They can't be sold or passed on to anyone.
I imagine if the libs stay in power they'll quietly shelf the buy back scam and do the same with the newly prohibited guns.
So either the team is liar's and have been for years or they will spend billions on it. Either way they deserve zero votes for this issue alone. This is just preying on fear with zero benefit to anybody.

Do you guys think the Democrats would reinstate the recently prohibited models if they won?
If cons win, I expect them to shred most of this OIC crap. There is zero justification for ever having spent any staff time on any of it. Some of the guns on the list are over $100K. Most of the guns in the list have never been used in a single crime in Canada ever.

I wish I was as optimistic as you 'Ghost...
The cons won't do s***.
At best they'll just leave things as they are now. The Harper gov't didn't do ANYTHING with the long gun registry until they had one foot out the door and even then it was axed based on cost alone, not some "standing up for legal owners" platitude... And maybe a final F-You to the incoming liberal gov't.
Although the CGN crew would like to think otherwise, licensed gun owners are not a significant enough constituency to sway anything the gov't is going to legislate on.

I guess we can only hope that if they do anything, it will be the same rationale - cost, which affects all Canadians, not just gun owners.

Wondering how everyone are moving along their unwanted firearms these days.
Have a Remington model 7 that is unlikely to make the banned list anytime soon that i would like to sell as i have no use for it.
Looking for any suggestions on the simplest was to find it a new home.

My gut feeling is the Cons will just let this mess lie in the mud , neither add nor subtract from the list or buy anything back . A nothing burger . The liberals may move forward, but they don’t seem to have a solid plan either .
How gun crime has actually increased since this nonsense was started and nobody in Ottawa can wrap their head around it is beyond me .

It was never about crime. Like most liberal plans, it was always about ideology and disguised as something to save us from scary things.

I feel so much better knowing a nineteen hundreds purdy duck gun is on the list . That would be scary. If you were a duck .

Can they really leave people in limbo like that? Either take the guns off the list, or sort out the fair buy-back. By doing nothing, owners stuck with banned guns might consider them to be worse than the Liberals.

Once they are in office , they don’t seem to care what they told you on the way in . It’s a disturbing pattern .
Now @DirtyFrank , is that Remington seven a two two three or a three O eight. I think they only made two calibres in that model?

At least a dozen different calibers and as many or more variations/

I tease . I’m being pressed to think about deer/moose hunting . Sold all my suitable firearms for that yrs ago. As long as it’s a suitable caliber it could work. I go for the week and the possibility I would not take any ammo is a real. I like euchre and cooking .
