We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Not so much the heat but the drive. It's 80km for me one way.

As long as you avoid any major storms, just run the heat on full blast :)

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

I also hate traffic...I actually plan my days around avoiding sitting in traffic lol.

So do I, but it's easier for me as I shoot late at night and take afternoon naps after work

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Dont waste your money, I guarantee you will regret it. The ergonomics are absolute garbage. If you want a high powered semi auto go with something like a .357 Coonan 1911 instead imo.

Its a novelty item, I wouldn't buy it to shoot all the time or be a good shooter, just to have in a collection and bust it out once in a while for the big bang. More of a collector piece, but it was a good experience to shoot such a popular and huge pistol.

Took a look at your Coonan suggestion and Im not interested, maybe if I got to shoot one and fell in love but just looking at it its not doing anything for me. I shot a 1911 in .45 and I didn't really like it, so I don't have a big urge to get a 1911 in any caliber just yet. My Glock 21 in .45 is fun enough for a bigger caliber right now

Im putting a deposit down on a Tanfoglio stock II xtreme order with Freedom Ventures, they said I should see the gun in April. I would have never though of buying one of those either, but I was lucky enough to have someone let me try theirs and I loved it. I have a holster course next weekend, so Im more focused on competition style shooting at the moment, doubt I'll actually be buying any big hand cannons any time soon.

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

how long did you guys wait for your ATTs? been waiting 4 weeks and my trigger finger is getting real itchy....

Call your CFO and ask if they have even received anything for you first. I was waiting 4 weeks for my LATT also, only to find out when I called that my range had not even submitted the request for it yet. After finding that out I called and Emailed the range a little ****** off, they apologized for the delay and sent it in right away, a day or 2 later they Emailed me a copy of the LATT number.

So it does not take long at all on the CFO side, but like mentioned it depends on when your range/club actually submits a request for you, so check that has been done or you could be waiting for nothing like I was. A lot of clubs use volunteers so they are busy and things get delayed at times, or so Ive been told lol

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

So I went to the range for the first time by myself...I'm plinking away and another member comes up and invites me to come down to his stall to shoot his new Kel Tec PLR 16! I was like huh? You don't know me but you are willing to let me shoot your brand new gun? Coming from motorcycle world this was a welcome surprise. So I wanted to ask you guys...is there a protocols code for the range? Was I supposed to offer him to shoot my gun if I shot his (cuz that wasn't happening)? Lol clearly I'm new to all this.

Pretty normal to offer your gun if you have something the other person most likely hasn't shot. That's a non-issue as we're a pretty friendly community. Don't touch a gun without permission and always ask the owner if you can run your own ammo in it should you choose to do so (because a race-gun with a weak recoil spring might not like +P loads, for example). Should have PM'd me as I was considering hitting the club.. Might do it later on tonight as I need to sight in a new dot. And yes you can fire a mag or two out of my AR.. More fun than a barrel of monkeys :D

I thought I told you I was going? Remember you had to work. Lol
I'm going again on the 20th in the morning again. And this time I'm not shooting holstered as I froze my *** off in port 11.

I offer people my guns if they show an interest in them. Its just a gun, they can't really hurt it, unlike lending someone your motorcycle.

I was at Burlington earlier this week and it's quite cold in there still. The heater was going, but damn it didn't help that much IMO. Also, at the right side of the range there was snow falling inside. I dunno if it was working its way into the venting system or what, but it was basically raining on the back bench under the window.

Its just a ****** old building, really.

Omg tell me about it. I had snow all over my range bag. Lol as for shooting others gun, I was just surprised that he approached me and invited me to shoot his gun. I mean we were on opposite sides of the range so it wasn't like I was watching him with longing or envy in my eyes and he took pity on me ya know?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Gun folk are good folk.

Lol I'm going with good folk....dude was old enough to be my grand dad. Lol I'm going with he was impressed with my 25m grouping and wanted to see how I did with a big boy pistol lol

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

Was he happy to see you?

Re: We know you ride, but do you Shoot?

What were you shooting and how were dem groups?

I guessed the yellow tape marker on the rail was 10 yards and the green marker 20? Last time I was at the range was years ago.

That's how I understood them to be too. So I can't say if it was exactly 25 but it was definately further than the green. I'm going to say I was doing about 5" groupings for the most part shooting a beretta.

so I called the CFO today and they have my application........received it 2 days ago.......I spoke to the guy at my range 3 weeks ago and he assured me everything was sent out and its just a case of the CFO taking their sweet @$$ time

Yup been there.......Im a little ****** off today too, I have been waiting 2+ months for my holster course at my range. Its supposed to be tomorrow evening and Sat. So I call in the range today just to make sure I bring enough ammo for the course. And they tell me its canceled, with no idea when the next one will be but at least a few months. If I didn't call I would have drove there tomorrow for nothing, and now I have this $500 holster I bought that I can only use in my basement.

At this point I think the only thing that can make me fell better is buying some more guns, and out comes the credit card

Lol just switch to a normal club, get yourself on the BB mailing list and hover over the phone. Pick all the clubs on the list and rent a motel room if needed.
