We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Don’t discount the cheap Turkish brands. Many of the big names offload their fabrication to Turkey. There’s different grades though for sure. You may be able to pick up a decent Turklone of a well known model.

There’s a few Turknelli clones of Benelli M4’s about now. If I can find the thread on that that I was reading I’ll post it. Different manufacturers seemed to have different tolerances.

Canuck (yes..made in Turkey!) shotguns seem to get reasonable reviews.

Honestly just a barebones shotgun is fine with me, i don't do any hunting or anything Mossberg® Maverick 88 3'' 12-Gauge Pump Shotgun | Cabela's Canada

No other stuff just kept falling in my cart. I need to step away from the Internet.

Never scroll through an online gun store site aimlessly. I have a Henry .22 lever action that I didn’t really read about that seems like it would better fit a 12 year old because I did that. It’s actually a fun gun though so….carry on.

Oh yes, also boxes of odd ammunition that seemed like a good idea at the time too.

Turkish clones are a bit like Chinese motorbikes , parts can be very hard to get and nobody wants to work on them . It’s cheap out of the box

I wouldn’t buy a Turkish clone as the failures I’ve seen on them make it too risky.
That’s not to say I wouldn’t buy a Turkish made gun, just not a clone. The Stoeger 3000 series M and P lines are great Turkish guns for example.
Many of the cheap bare bones shotguns from the main manufacturers are outsourced to Turkey.

I guess after reading this maybe i'd be more interested in dishing out a bit more cash. After thinking about it some more i would like a shotgun with a front rail as well as a top rail. Preferably pump but if not it isn't a deal breaker. That Stoeger is pretty cool. I didn't know there was a lot of depth to a shotgun, when i was handgun shopping it definitely wasn't this difficult - so many quality handguns and if they had a bad reputation you would know.

I have a stoeger 3500 and it’s great. Sure there’s many things a more expensive firearm can provide but for the price point it provides excellently. I have better shotguns as well but the stoeger is probably best dollar for value.

A semi-automatic shotgun is a very fun gun indeed. The one on that ad is a 3 gun one so it’s designed to have some oversized controls and an enlarged loading port for quick multiple cartridge reloads. I didn’t check the specs but these things seem to be designed to do several things well. I’m happy with my Beretta version and this looks similar. With the right (legal) extension I think you can fit maybe 7 or 8x3” shells in the magazine too. Can’t remember what mine takes but it is Canadian legal.

Can someone explain what the legal amount of shells you can have in a tube is in Canada? I've been reading some conflicting info online. Some say 5, some say 3. My gut says 5 since that's the same amount used in Rifles, but then I read that you can fit possibly 6 2 and 3/4 in a shotgun chambered for 3"

Also what's the best way of mounting a light on a shotgun that has no rail?

sorry for all the questions, again, coming from handguns it was pretty basic when i was shopping for that.

Depends on what the original maximum capacity for the largest shell size for your shotgun is:

Thanks for this. And i remember from the course that you should never shoot larger shell sizes in a chamber (obviously), but when it comes to say a 3 inch chamber I would be okay shooting a 3 inch shell? Just because i remember the instructor saying that when the gun is fired the shell opens up at the end about a quarter inch and you would want extra space for that to happen.

if it’s chambered for 3” then using 3” shells or less will be fine. I think the exact length of shells differs a bit by brand anyway.
