Waving--Can we put this topic to rest!

I wave to every two wheeler, even scooters, bikes, and ebikes and some three wheelers.
I don't wave to taximan, because the topic frustrates him.
Why frustrate him on purpose.

Lets just answer the waving questions once and for all and no more

1. Yes it's nice to wave and get one back
2. It is not law that we have to wave back so if you don't get a wave back GET OVER IT!
3. Some people wave all the time, some wave sometimes, some never wave. That is the reality again GET OVER IT!
4. It has nothing to do with make of bike it is a personal decision and everyone is different.

Done what else is there to say!?

Sticky!

I can count to Potatoe

+1 I tend to not wave so much now, I might lift a couple fingers up off the clutch lever, but that's about it.
But when it's pissing out rain, or very early or late season riding I'll acknowledge those guys as they aren't just out there to be cool, they are out there because of the passion.
I would wave even more in January or February but for some reason I never see other people out there...

its ok...we just haven't crossed paths yet.

I think we need a poll: subject, Should we wave at dino or synthetic oil when wearing/ not wearing gear with loud pipes?

Yet another wave thread...This post is exactly like the other 1000 wave posts. what is the original poster trying to achieve with the same content?By the way I think people can post anything they want very much like this repetitive post. Why do you care so much?

But the big question is do you wave on your m test and if so what is mto approved way to wave

Waving to other riders meant something years ago when there weren't many people riding motorcycles. Now everyone and their in-laws rides a bike. It's become too commonplace.

Yes, usually meant as an 'all clear' ahead. Course this all started in the '60s when cops hated all forms of bikers.

After doing my M1 exit at the RTI downtown, I had to wait over 2months to get my first bike. In that gap of not riding, I certainly didn't forget how to ride, but I was very unsure about riding a motorcycle in traffic when I hit the ignition on my first bike ever. I was on Bathurst, near Lawrence, on rush hour.
I never got to experience the traffic, and never cruised over 30km/hr at RTI. You can figure all the bad thoughts crossing my mind after I joined the traffic, riding in 6th gear at around 60km/hr.
It was so fast, I was flying. I was certainly not happy. I was scared and feeling not safe. With all the pedestrians and cagers starring at me (later I figured, they are just starring at the bike lol), I was thinking there has to be something wrong.

........until another rider spotted me from the oncoming traffic. As I was looking at him (never seen a wave before lolz) dude waved and gave me a smile !!!!!!! Man, wasn't that a sign like from jesus christ ! At that point, I interpreted the wave as he was telling me 'right on, you're doing ok'. And all the bad thoughts vanished then =) It was quite a moment there for me, and that wave meant tons. Perhaps saved me from an accident, because, thinking about it now, I don't know how much further I could go in that state of mind before the wave.

I am riding since June now, and I wave to everybody. Maybe it is the other rider's first ride, in need of a little support.

Wow, is this the start of the old age/new age riders again? What was once cool is no longer cool because it is now and not then?

Agreed. I am more inclined to wave on a chilly commute at 6am in April, at the one or two other diehards I pass, than on a sunny July Saturday when every second or third vehicle is a weekend warrior on his man-toy.

I like this thought.

Since everyone can complain about something, why not post stickies for all loud pipes, gear - do you wear it!?, oil - dino or syn?, my first SS and the always informative Waving... threads. If we elimate the need for threads in general, this community will only exist in romper room. Not a bad thought eh?

FWIW, I wave to all types of bikers. 99% of them wave back.

You look familiar. Well, your moniker anyway. :D

I thaught we wave at each other to acknowledge the free will and promote the goodwill which ironically we tend to loose when we are cagers...As cagers we tend to be mean on roads...atleast waving brings our goodness to forefornt, if any is left in this crazy world. I will always wave at fellow riders respecting their independence and courage.

Spooooon!

I'm looking forward to the next wave thread.

Cannot be put to rest until people stop asking if it can be put to rest. Did you think you were the first to ask this too?
