watch repair recommendations?

Here's a watch I inherited, which I think you guys will like. It was awarded to my father in 1949. Some time later when he crashed his Ariel Square Four, it flew off his wrist and got run over by a car. You can see the road rash on the back. It sat for in a drawer for about 50 years after that, until I had it repaired by an excellent watchmaker in Newmarket.

Very cool but I have two questions:
A) What did he do at the fire? Heroic action = Good Story
B) Considering he was on square four are you sure the watch didn't just bail of it's own volition?

I have the wanna be Panerai from Australia, mitoyo auto movement in a Panerai style case . I also was not a big enough fan to buy the real one .

@85K100 , what a great piece and story to go with it. The sum is so much more than the parts .

@allisonfjr, I bought the Panzera from Australia , but the case shape just didnt work for me , yet I have a cushion shape Omega that I dig. I really wanted to love the Panerai , the military and diving/sailing connections, just couldn't make it work for me.

My financial advisor asked me to help her source a Cartier tank watch , I told her if she could float a 10K Cartier tank she makes too much money off me. She offered to help take off my Tudor submariner so she could beat me to death with it. I'll find her a nice watch...

Holy crap @85K100, I had read alot about the Noronic disaster as a mariner and diver (and a different boat fire survivor) this stuff fascinates and terrifies me.
D williamson was the Goodyear tire plant guy that pushed some scaffolding up beside the boat and got a lot of people off since the gang planks were sort of in the fire. Absolute hero. Amazing.

Also the oyster everest is a pretty scare watch on its own, current value 3-5K depending on condition , with the story attached to yours who knows.

I used to use Barthau in Stouffville, because they've been watchmakers for a few of generations now.

Before that I just took it to my grandfather's store.

I didn't realize how expensive they were to fix, until I had to start paying.

Thanks, cranky. :^) It was a painters' raft that he pushed out, by the port anchor. He saved people who had jumped into the lake. I have a host of artifacts that go along with it. My Dad was a diver too, and so am I.

Who bought the Russian watch here using Paypal? What was the site?
