@mimico , if you seriously go looking for a fun or interesting watch , look at websites like Watches to Buy in London Ontario, or DarLor in Niagara on the lake .
The watches they sell have been looked at , often serviced and clean and ready for another few decades . Kijiji and Facebook marketplace is fine , if you really know what your looking at and can trust the seller . I’ve been doing this for a long time , there are a lot of “wrong” watches out there . It’s really fun to look around .

Nice thing with premium watches is that most do not depreciate, actually been appreciating heavily over the last decade.
As long as you don't destroy it, you can enjoy it for a few years, and sell it right back for the same money or more.
The guys that bought a submariner ten yrs ago for $7200 . Yeah it’s 16k in ten yrs . Same with a Daytona , they just keep going up . Rolex is almost always a solid deal .

You joke, but the last watch I ever owned was a Swatch. I was a teenager.
Tried to find the exact model online, then realized they made thousands of designs...
This one is kinda neat:
I used to work as a short-order cook at the Ex in the summers. When my job ended, all the plastic in my Swatch had absorbed the smell of all the grease and onions I was cooking with. Couldn't ever get rid of that smell.
I actually get that. In all honesty I think old time pieces are very cool. I'm absolutely amazed when the guy on AR prys the back off an old pocket watch. How they could make such small parts so accurately so long ago I just can't fathom. Then to boot they engrave them with scroll work nobody but a watch mechanic will see.
Do I get credit for having a cheap watch zip tied to the bars of the KLR??
Some horologically interesting watches are pretty bleeping ugly imo. Franck Muller comes to mind as an obvious example. There are many others.
