Watch out for Tesla's

Never noticed it seemed pretty perfect in the rental Camry came up to distance and held it very well IMHO
I was setting the cruise at around 140 and letting it follow the flow or traffic around 120 or 130

This was second hand from my little brother who kept switching off the cruise in his Tacoma.

Toyota Safety Sense might be why there are so many Toyota's driving slowly in the passing lane now.
The adaptive cruise control tends to get too close, and then overbrake, when approaching a slower vehicle.

Perhaps other manufactures have systems that do likewise.
The Honda system is pretty slick. Set a cruise speed, distance behind the next car and let it do its thing.

Slows down, speeds up, and brakes hard when necessary. I was impressed.

Never had the nerve to let go of the wheel but apparently it tracks lanes pretty well also.

Only annoying thing is during together curves any oncoming traffic will trigger a warning. Wheel vibrates and dash warning lights to alert the driver of a crash…with no crash coming.

The distance-following cruise control was fine. It was the automatic-lane-keeping (but you still have to hold the steering wheel) that drove me nuts, and which I switched off.

Mercedes has a similar system. I was driving my wife's E450 on the 407, doing 120 in the middle lane. Approached an 18-wheeler truck in the right lane with intention to overpass when the car suddenly braked and reduced its speed to match the truck's 70 KPH. That was a real shock and totally unexpected. Can't imagine what might have happened if there was another car behind me (which there wasn't).

What year did you try. my ridgeline 2017 was better than dumb cruise but nothing to write home about.
worked okay but kept too far of a distance for my taste with any real traffic.
lane keep assist was terrible except fairly straight roads, kept bouncing between the lines and couldn't navigate a basic highway curve.

Three fatalities in the USA so far this summer

I wonder how many more accidents and deaths are necessary for the government to finally step in and stop this nonsense.

Lots. Tons of money involved.

Musk is not exactly in the good books with the US government right now.....and his Russia nonsense recently is not helping that. He's gone full douchenozzle.

Wouldn't be surprised he and Tesla start getting their toes stepped on a little as a side effect.
