Walking Dead (Spoliers)

Re: Walking Dead

was hoping for a few more good guys to bite it, but it was a foregone conclusion that Herschel's time was up... Beth should have went too, I think that is how it played out in the comic?

So is Judith toast too? Blood in the baby seat the closest thing they can show to indicate a dead baby?

People who watch this show every week but continually post about how crap the show is, how bad the writing is, or bla bla bla with nothing positive... you're funny

that being said, there were a few things during the episode I thought were just ridiculous
a) tank having ammo and a gunner and a properly maintained gun
b) how easily a one eyed psychopathic lying stranger convinced what appeared to be a normal and peaceful group to transform into blood thirsty soldiers with zero morals
c) governor winning a fist fight after being hit in the shoulder / arm with a high powered rifle
d) assault rifle rounds not penetrating Daryl's meatshield
e) governor elects to behead Herschel, not Micchone? really? his entire reason for going postal at Woodbury, he allows to live and ultimately kill him?

despite all this, still my all time favourite television show and still a die hard fan from day 1

Agreed with most of the above -

c) governor winning a fist fight after being hit in the shoulder / arm with a high powered rifle

- Rick got shot in the leg. His right fist was already injured (wrapped up). Could've went either way.

e) governor elects to behead Herschel, not Micchone? really? his entire reason for going postal at Woodbury, he allows to live and ultimately kill him?

- Strategically a better target. He knew it would affect more of the group as Herschel still had family, and was the de facto patriarch.

I was puzzled at this at first but it does make more sense he executed Herschel. But I was disappointed Micchone didn't settle her score by cutting the Gov in half as she vowed to do.

I don't know that it's worth trying to make sense out of this episode. It seemed like nothing more than pouring gasoline on an anthill. You want to take the place over so you bulldoze the best protection that it provides for a reasonable lifestyle, blow holes in the rest of the defences, and fire off enough small arms ammo and ordinance to attract every zombie from there to Atlanta?

Re: Walking Dead

TV and movies don't need to make 100% sense. They need to entertain and the last episode was highly entertaining. As an episode of Big Bang Theory pointed out, everything that Indiana Jones did in Raiders of the Lost Ark had no effect on the final outcome of the Nazis reaching their goal of obtaining and opening the Ark of the Covenant. But it was a damn good movie!

No, the story doesn't have to follow real world logic, but each invented world has its own internal logic. This episode didn't follow the Walking Dead world logic. When you have the opportunity for revenge, you serve it up. When someone has something that you want, you kill them and take it. You don't destroy it.

Well, I think the real destruction began once the Governor discovered Megan was bit and subsequently shot her. At this point, the idea of the prison being a home for his new "family" was over. Doesn't explain the tank blowing holes in everything, as I am pretty sure Gi Joe didn't see/care about Megan dying. Perhaps it was supposed to be symbolic of humanity's violent nature and inherent bloodlust? Once bullets start to fly and bodies start to fall... strategy and sound reasoning are usually absent....this is why the idea of armed survivors behaving like trained hardened soldiers is difficult to fathom even with suspension of disbelief.. for me, anyway

You are talking about the same guy that massacred his own group right. He's got screws loose. No sense in him left.

There was a certain logic to that. He didn't want to drag around the dead wood and didn't want to deal with the whiners. He kept his most loyal followers.

I just saw that as him beyond caring by that point. His only card to play was to get Rick's group to give up the prison in exchange for sparing Herschel and Micchone.
Once that wasn't going to happen, his ego wouldn't let him back down, not in front of his new found group. If Rick wasn't going to hand over the the prison, the Guv wasn't going to let Rick's group be happy in it. History is full of stupid decisions like that.

Re: Walking Dead

WTF is wrong with Rick.

The dude that killed his entire group, attacked yours, kept Zombies as pets, you KNOW hes a psycho and you're sitting there pleading to live together? Hershel was dead, there was no way out of that situation.

Now lets talk about total plot holes

So a few episodes prior to this, zombies are swarming so bad that the fence is about to fall down, yet a god damn TANK and a dozen vehicles rolls up and not a single Zombie is drawn until later?

A stranger shows up and mysteriously a few of your dudes die and nobody questions it, then the guy just takes over and you decide that you will now follow him into battle on his say so?

The frigging world ended, WTF are you camped in the middle of the field? There are thousands of better defensible positions.

See, you insult my intelligence when you write crap like that....convenient total 180 degree changes to the story to suit a certain scene? GMAFB.

I'm having a hard time convincing myself to watch the next episode...it seems as if though only retards survived the zombie apocalypse, thats the only way i can explain constant idiotic moves they make.

Oh, you should see the gun nuts pop veins over all the ridiculous battle scenes. Rifles with zero sights on them, sights mounted backwards, tin cans blocking 223 and 7.62x39, A skinny zombie becomes a bullet shield etc etc etc.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the "kill them all" order came before the new girlfriend showed up with the dead kid.

Maybe, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

Maybe, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

He isn't very charismatic. He's not a smooth talker. I don't get how he was able to win over the new group then lead them to slaughter.

I am always willing to let the little coincidences slide for the benefit of entertaining tv but like it was already stated.. it seems that only retards survived the zombpocalypse.

Re: Walking Dead

just about any show or movie has so many holes, that's what we come to accept. Forget logic (that was gone in the beginning), just enjoy the violence. lol

No one mentioned there wasn't a sentry to see the tank, etc roll up. Tankboy just follows the guy that admits to murdering you brother?

Re: Walking Dead

Speaking of tanks, right back to season 1 when rick could have has that tank... that would have been the move no?

Re: Walking Dead

Also that tank didnt look like it was one that would have been in service... So would have found it in a museum... maybe? where did they find the ammo for it...

BS, go watch Boardwalk empire, The Wire ....the stories have no inconsistencies that will pull you out of the fantasy land.

A certain amount of suspension of disbelief is expected from the viewer. But when the viewer is presented with a set of "rules" within the universe, we expect the writers to adhere to those rules. When they dont, your subconcious starts to protest and whoila, you start enjoying the show less because its no longer belieavable within the realm of the shows world. If Rick all of a sudden jumped to the third story rooftop you'd gloss it over? No, because in that universe laws of physics that we are used to still apply. If we were told that they are fighting on the moon, then we can adjust our perception to make it normal.

Re: Walking Dead

How about that grenade down the tank barrel...

Possible but a slim chance. That loading door needs to be open.

Now if he had left a grenade in there & gunner decided to fire, that would blow them up

If they're like "Night of the Living dead" zombies, then they would have gone for all the big brains first. At this point they must be down to short rations, because they'd starve on the ones who are left over.

Also that tank didnt look like it was one that would have been in service... So would have found it in a museum... maybe? where did they find the ammo for it...

Or found, in service, in The National Guard. They don't exactly get A-line equipment. George Dubya Bush was trained to fly a model of jet fighter that he would never have to take into combat, because it wasn't in general service at the time.

And if there was a live round up the pipe? BOOM!
