This is a sure way of never really having to worry about viruses etc...
install a clean copy of Windows and then install virtualbox from oracle (it's free) now install win 7 in virtualbox.
When you want to test any software first just install it in the virtualbox.
Make a couple copies of your virtual box.
Keep your real windows clean.
just an idea for some of you

Most of the time, reformatting your computer is used as a last resort so you don't use valuable data. If you don't care what you have on your computer, then by all means.

Also, most people don't have the OS disc as they tend to lose it.

Most viruses delete the system restore data and disable it.

I've used it many times for friends with great success. It's the first step on fixing it. If restore doesn't work then you try online scanners, or scan from memory stick, final step is fresh install

Christ on a stick people, go buy decent anti-virus software already and things like this very very rarely happen.

Not running windows has saved me from virus head aches

Linux FTW

I had a RAT (virus) compatible with linux systems before :p, they're just not that common cause you can't infect/spread as fast as windows is more common.

Then again, not watching porn on random sites or torrenting for "free" full software helps too.

MS DOS 6.22 :headbang:

MS-DOS was home to one of the worst viruses out there - seeing how NATAS insinuated itself into every part of a computer was kind of incredible
