I went through the Durham site today trying to book my second shot. Durham is providing second shots to 70+ and selected priority groups (which I am none of). There is however an option for Pfizer as a second dose to AZ, since my first shot was AZ, I took that.
After entering all of my information and selecting a site, the first date available to me is exactly 12 weeks from my first shot. I suspect that is part of the program. In any case, only 2 weeks from now, I'll take it.

It is challenging debating with some of my friends who have resisted the pandemic protocols and now the vaccine rollout. Hard to discuss logically when most of their points are fear based.

And then for awhile you get a glimpse of the other side......yes of course anyone who hasn't taken the vaccine is an anti vaxxer who needs to be punished because they want to harm your mother.

Restrictions for unvaccinated, yeah like that’s ever gonna happen

Exactly

But I am more amazed at their position and logic of how they blindly position people who make other choices

I think at this point it’s more fear driven than anything else

It’s not about freedoms as much as rights

Or is it just lifted restrictions for the vaccinated? Everyone else just stays where they are at now....no actual change for them, their rights stay the same as now.... all about how it is implemented.... /s

Both sides are out to lunch.

If you don't want a vaccine fine Section 2(a) makes sure it's your choice and right to choose. You can't be penalized in Canada for it under the Charter.

Want the vaccine, get it and protect yourself from hospitalization and/or death. But if you are so sure the vaccines are prefect shut up about other people.

AZ + Pfizer is apparently much better against delta (mid to high 80% effective). Back to brian p's talking point though, as today is better than something else next week.
Hmmm. I’ll check then. If there isn’t a big difference in wait times I’ll just sign up for Pfizer. Lots of stock as I understand it, and if it’s a week….may be worth the additional 20%.

EDIT: oops saw @Wingboy response stating that AZ/AZ has a high efficacy rate against the variants as well.

Frak so much info out there.

Don't think you need to remind anyone about their rights.
You want people to shut up regarding anti vaxxer's?
It's their opinion! Remember the first part? Rights?

infraction for spamming thread!

No penalties for no vaccine sure…but if businesses and organizations decide to enact policies based on vaccination then that is their right too.

You may have a right to free movement but no airline has an obligation to take you anywhere if you don’t follow their policies. Your rights also have to mesh with those rights of a foreign population to be protected from unvaccinated travellers too.

I'm not going to evangelize for vaccinations. There’s enough information out there to support them wholeheartedly. Instead I will think about you screaming about your rights while you snowblow your driveway, for a microsecond while I sip alcoholic drinks on a tropical beach somewhere while booking concert tickets for when I get back.

As I've said all along, we can't force vaccinations on anyone, but there's a lot of flexibility what can be done to make your life less enjoyable vs everyone else if you choose not to.

Don't want to get vaccinated? Hey, your prerogative. But you can probably kiss a lot of things goodbye, while everyone else gets on with their lives and starts to enjoy them again. Like....travel, for one.

Provinces can always use the "Not Withstanding Clause" to limit the interactions or exposure of the non-vaccinated with the general vaccinated public, at least for a year or two until this has all dwindled enough to not be a worry. Problem solved.

Envision with Canadian flag. I sux at Photoshop.

(Edit: And without the gun. But you get the idea. This response is pretty much a complete fail. Too late. For the lolz)

You're a smart guy. That's a crap argument. No vaccine is perfect.

The way some extreme pro-vaccine side are acting, they must believe it's prefect. As any question leads them to label people anti-vaxxers.

Don't think you need to remind anyone about their rights.

I'd like any extremists who can't stand the lifestyle choices of others to shut up, vaccines are the least of my concern. In civilized society we do have laws regarding hate speech that do target the extremists of both sides of most arguments.

If you replaced the subject of vaccines with religion, sexual orientation or any number of things, the way both extremist sides are acting online (not typically here), no one would argue that it falls under that category.

I am to shut up?

I actually haven't noticed any wackos of either side here. My comment was directed more to that Twitter post and how people are pouncing on each other there. 🤣

The provinces needed to invoke Section 33 to make those $880 tickets and all these so called public health measures legal which limited mobility rights of Canadians and they didn't.

It's unlikely any of them will try and invoke it over the vaccines. Politicians have no spine.

It's been a year and a half. People are pissy and ready for this to be ASAP so we can at least have some sort of enjoyable summer, and hopefully a quasi-normal winter and Christmas with family again this year.

So yeah, when this same 70-80% of the population see the two leftover percentages (the nonsensically antivax, and the frustratingingly "hesitant"), it's shouldn't be totally unexpected for the 70-80% to get understandably grumpy about it.
