Planning another protest this weekend.

Protest back by not supporting the taxi industry. Although the Toronto Taxi Alliance and Beck Taxi are encouraging drivers to not take part you know the same guys who protested last time are still not happy. So stay away from the ACC and area this Friday afternoon if you don't want to get caught up in this.

Oh man.... Being a couple blocks away from the ACC suuucks...

it would be funny if there was a flash mob (perhaps a few hundred people) of phone calls requesting taxis...I wonder what the drivers would do...lol

Thankfully they have now cancelled it.

Funny enough this actually made me rethink my Friday aft plans. Even though I would have been taking alternate transportation I thought of canceling dinner plans, as not to have to deal with downtown core.

I have reinforced my mirrors so they can hang on it

It's unfortunate that so many were lured into the Canadian Taxi profession with promises of riches and a quality workplace.

Oh wait, they weren't.

I was wondering if the Mayor and Police chief had plans to deal with this demonstration. Not saying anything till taking action.
Nobody should have the ability to shut down Toronto. We are a World first class something or other??????????????

I love that counselor who was saying that uber X is dangerous and anyone who is currently in an uber car, leave now. Pretty much trying to instill fear on everyone.

I know it's not fair to paint the whole group with the same brush based off one incident. But the first time (and last) I've ever taken a taxi home, it felt pretty dangerous. The guy was speeding and on the phone and swerving in between lanes. I, someone who was tipsy at the time, could have done a less dangerous drive.

I'm trying to picture a restaurant doing this.

"OK. You don't like my greasy overpriced food so I'm going to shut down and force you to eat at the cleaner cheaper place across the street."

They had police permits to do it.

i figure protests come with and or are a natural part of big city life, and not much to get excited about,

in some organised protests/marches, the police are there to 'clear the way' for a predetermined given route,

and there can be plenty of support out there, regardless of naysayers,

the taxi biz has always been a tuff grind with folks (like others) willing to stand & make a point

Lol. Stand up and piss your target audience off.

If the job is so Tuff get another one if you are ambitious. I do agree that someone has got to be the garbage man, we all can't be Dr's. However if you don't like your job or can't compete then get a new one.

They said that on CP24 yesterday during an interview with Stephen Ledrew. He immediately called BS.
Their rep made a huge *** of himself during that interview. I would guess that interview played a part in their decision not to strike.

Send Forcillo to the protest with one of the new assault rifles the cops got. Problem solved.

Well if they were smart and IF they had real solidarity they could all just take the weekend off. No cabs in the city, anywhere. It will be nice and cold, lots of people will be in town for the game and looking for rides. Uber demand pricing will be through the roof, point made...this is what the world looks like if you put them all out of business.

Key is solidarity, if half of them ignore it...well they make lots of cash and no point is made. If it was a protest you only need half, maybe less than a quarter to really jam things up.

Yes, I agree with you. The only problem, is that what you say makes sense. Never going to happen.

Awesome, might as well give him unlimited ammo because we know he will empty a mag on each one
