Undercover Cop Vehicles

has it occurred to you that they might be doing paperwork in that empty car park..

Yeah, "how many more people do I need to ticket to make my quota?" I need $$$$ so only 3 more people and the ticket must be at least $XXX and I have 6 more hours, so every 2 hrs I'll make an effort and just write tickets - this is fun paperwork

ignorance at its finest!

my issue with the the popo using all these different cars is the cost to maintain them...the crown vic is a tank for the job that it does, anyone know if the newer cars cost less in maintenance compared to the old vics? the newer ones being front wheel drive must be tougher on the vehicles...

Moot point, considering the Crown Vics are on their way out. Wouldn't surprise me if another motive for seeing more generic cars being used for unmarked is that they could be trying to reserve what they have left of Crown Vics for their main marked fleet. There's no doubt that they're more expensive to maintain, the Crown Vics were extremely cheap, it would be hard to beat them.

LOL only time I ever see cops is at a Tims or parked at the back of some empty car lot doing nothing.

They work 12 hour shifts and get a one hour break, god forbid they go get a coffee (usually free) or sit in a parking lot to eat their lunch/supper.

The word "Work" is a bit of a stretch. And they sit in those car parks for well over their 1hr break. I see people speeding past cop cars at 20+kmh over the limit, not indicating, tail gating, driving erratically, not stopping at red lights etc and not once have I seen someone pulled over. When they do actually ticket someone they almost NEVER turn up to their court dates allowing criminals off scott free. When they get a call to something dangerous they wait till the ETF turn up and all the danger is over (even if they were only a couple mins away from the scene) before showing up cause god forbid they put themselves in danger and actually "serve and protect".

Constables earning over 100k per year and they STILL dont do what their job description states. Work is not a word id use to describe what I see them doing.

tell that to the cop that set on my corner 3 or 4 times a week. if you don't believe me come speeding down Britannia west of mississauga rd any day of the week

traffic enforcement officers have already been talked to death about at length in another thread so i wont be going there.
i cant speak for peel or the area they work in but everywhere is different.

firstly - peel region is a lot quiter then places like toronto,

secondly - mississauga rd and surrounding area such as streetsville as you mention in peel are wealthier neighbourhoods therefore far less crime will be happening, if theres no crime to stop they will be doing things like radar, enforcing stop signs etc. the officer will stick to their division, they cant go to the bad areas of peel and start doing crime prevention there. you cant expect them to drive around in circles for 12 hours in a rich neighbourhood where you might get only a few calls a day, instead youll be out enforcing traffic laws such as mississauga rd.
