Undercover Cop Vehicles

how about patriotism

because if everyone thought that way we would still be in the 1800s

I also don't see how attempts to shield local business from competition is at all better for the country.

Local cops (at least in GTA) use pretty much any vehicle right now if you want to get really paranoid. For example, yesterday, I saw a GM minivan (Venture) with those special "undercover" decals, which can only be seen in direct light.

I was pulled over by one of these tan coloured minivans last year on Yonge between Sheppard and Finch. I started watching out for them and see them more and more frequently. I didn't notice any decals on the vehicle though, just low-pro sirens on the dash. I'll look carefully for the decals next time as I was wondering whether it was legal for a patrol car to be unmarked. Although, I consider a cruiser with decals that are the same colour as the vehicle's paint to be essentially "unmarked".

Pretty sure if it was illegal, something would have been done by now, considering most departments have huge fleets of completely unmarked cars lol

they drive what ever they confiscate, not all them have the pretty lites

This

Y'all must know they also rotate on a weekly basis ANY car into their undercover line right?

No?

lol

That's what makes undercover car threads so derp.

Yeah, it's a sweet looking cruiser. As far as I know, Halton is still debating between the Charger Enforcer and Taurus Interceptor. The 2012 Enforcer has been re-jigged a bit inside to better fit old CVP equipment which was originally the main concern.

I snapped these pics of the Charger last year:

The reviews of these Charger were, lets say, less than favourable. You cannot see anything from inside of that car, the windows are tiny, the hood is high (to accomodate that truck engine that Chrysler stuffed in it), so the visibility is garbage.

I saw an old beat up jeep used once. Was speeding along the 407 came up beside it noticed the lights and the decal on the side. Freaked out and tucked in behind him. Spent the next 30 min laughing my head off as everyone else did the same as me. Figured they must be laughing harder in the jeep. But I used to live near a police station in Markham and I gave up thinking they drive specific cars when I saw a beetle with lights etc sitting in their lot. All brands are fair game.

Is the Taurus much better? Both seem to have much higher hood lines and smaller windows compared to the CVPs.

WHoa, 2 marked patrol cars in one day, in st. catharines - one pulled over a car and another was parked at a tims :P

I didn't say that the Taurus was better. I said that Charger was not accepted by the police force, that's why most of them still drive in the Crown Victorias. Who knows where the wind will blow next time, and they will pick a Taurus or Caprice, or whatever else is more politically friendly when they'll be picking their next vehicle.

Last summer I was pulled over in Burlington for speeding by a Silver Pontiac Grand Prix. Really wasn't expecting that to be honest. He didn't have radar in the car though...sucker. hehehe

There is a black one also with black tinted windows. But I have not seen it out lately

LOL only time I ever see cops is at a Tims or parked at the back of some empty car lot doing nothing.

my issue with the the popo using all these different cars is the cost to maintain them...the crown vic is a tank for the job that it does, anyone know if the newer cars cost less in maintenance compared to the old vics? the newer ones being front wheel drive must be tougher on the vehicles...
