track noob questions

What suit do I buy? That is near impossible to answer,,,,,FOR ME. So put it on, get on a bike and it should be snug and not painful. Armour sucks in most suits so buy some aftermarket good stuff and swap it out. Think of suit armour like a stock pipe,,,change it out. Do not listen to the salesman/lady,,,,,casue most of them are that. Do not buy a new suit and then have it altered,,,and if you want to go custom,, then don't be cheap and spend the coin. Custom and cheap in the same sentence,,, come on!
If you have a cheap custom suit,,,,,???? You get what you pay for. Custom-Pilot,,done.
So go to the store,,put the suit on,,sit on a bike for 20 minutes,,,any pain move on,,loose baggy ,, move on,, spend the time.

If I was 140 pounds, I would probably give it a try but I already have enough of a hard time moving while on my bike to get in the (kind off) leaning position.
Nothing to do with testosterone. I also think that if money is to be spent on safety, probably one of those vests that inflate when you crash would be a better investment, would save you from some of the most common injuries like collar bones and ribs etc.

I do agree that a chest protector is probably something all of us should wear and don't.

On the Neck Brace have a read:
http://www.visordown.com/product-features/used-leatt-stx-road-neck-brace-review/21199.html

Remember they said the same things about the Head and Neck Restraints in Auto racing in 2001

+1 for inflated vests

I don't have one but after I broke my collarbone I found out many other track riders had the same injury....hell, somebody else broke theirs at the DDT this year =( The vests look like they'd save you from that...

What air vest thats compatible with the speed hump?

I've looked around and all i can find are HitAir vest from Japan but they wont fit on top of the hump.

What i find ridiculous is all the suit brands care about is look. they never consider armor in their cut. They must think the attached armors are all we need.

I mean ALL Brands, they're dont give a **** about safety or what?

Also the Revzilla videos are so misleading is not even funny. Every suit "review" they do, they always show a fit thats so tight the model dude can hardly breath,.... ofcourse without any chest or back protector on.

I hope their customers return the suits if they follow the size guide.

Man, why did you call someone cheap? Custom suit is meant for racers not weekend track riders. I dont think its worth the money, and altering off the shelf suit makes alot of sense. Unless your size is uncommon.

We had 7 or 8 collarbones broken in one weekend at Round 3 of SOAR lol

Is it true that most of them caused by the helmet?

I wonder why helmet companies dont integrate air bag neck protection, does not have to be big just 2L of air to shield the neck...

Maybe i should just patent the damn thing and be rich.

They are caused by your body smashing into the ground

How I've never broken it is unbelievable but I did do 4 ribs and a collapsed lung at round 1

Did you wear chest protector?

Some of the chest protectors i've seen is very small, not sure how they can protect your front torso.

No I wasn't wearing a chest protector. The ribs broke in the back

You have to bring your gear when trying on a suit. I brought my back/chest protector and my padded shorts when I bought my dainese suit. I needed to stretch it a little bit but if I went a size up it would have been too big. It now fits perfectly and a suit is suppose to fit tight.

Bickle knows a thing or two about leathers.

Don't know about others but I high sided onto my shoulder and it snapped instantly. Better the collarbone than shoulder though as the shoulder has many more bones!

Get in touch with Fawaz at Speedwrox/Racer5. He told me he used to sell air vests to go over track suits but no one bought them. I'm saving up for one lol

As for chest protection and back protection there's this:

https://www.planet-knox.com/product/track-motorcycle-vest-with-back-protector/

I don't know how well the chest protector would work (seems a little thin) but I really like the vest!

I've read some good things about the HIT air vests & I've seen a few guys at TMP this year wearing them.
I'm considering buying one for next year, I maybe one of the slower riders out there on the track but my 52 year old bones dont bend anymore, they just break & I'm all for anything that can help improve safety.
Not cheap, but maybe well worth the expense if they help prevent a broken collarbone.

You guys need to learn how to smash your body on the ground properly :)

So repairing and altering suits for 25 years and you want me to explain this? I can ,,, Custom suits are made for people that need a custom build. They can be 1 piece and two piece,,track or street,,track day or racer. 80% of the reason a suit works or doesn't is fit. So a unique build needs a custom suit. There are track day riders that can turn faster lap times then most racers. In Fact the top riders at a Pro 6 day at Bogie might shock you if they decided to race. I have found pavement does not discriminate against racers more then track day riders. Last time I checked 100KPH was the same for trackdays and racing. Unfortunately,,I see what does not work!
