Track Day TMP 1-9 pm or 5-9 pm -- Thursday May 23rd

ok I will next time. What would be considered fast and slow lap times?

I think you were doing 1:22 last year, which (from what I'm understanding from previous threads) should be somewhere on the faster end in yellow. However (again from what I've read here), if you are very consistent and have very predictable behavior on the track, the Reds won't mind you being there even if lap times are not so great. As for times, many guys seem to be pulling 1:18 and less in the red.

That was my first time riding a litre bike though. I'll probably cut a couple seconds from my time this year.

Ramon, 1:22 is nothing to be ashamed of, lol :) I'll be happy to get to that this year.

1:22 is fine for red, just go out last, try to catch up, hunting is fun.
if you find people are too fast drop down. sometimes I run in int. group to help friends, theres some quick guys there too.
problem is slower people (beg. group) don't want to just pass on the straight, so they run int. group, and some people are fastest in group and don't want to graduate to slowest of the fast, so sometimes its a cluster**** of skill level LOL

Ha! 40% chance of rain, 1-3 mm!

(0 cm snow...)

...but 25 kph winds. It is Cayuga after all.

I need to practice my passing so I wouldn't mind a pretty full yellow group. I'll be working on braking harder/later with my new fork goodies so hopefully nobody will be running into the back of me.

I've seen a weird situation where when people see I have a rear camera, they start driving like retards behind me :(

It's comments like this that make yellow one of the groups I don't want to ride in.

Scary thoughts trusting you with a new GP shifter trying to out brake and run corners deep?

Oh man!!

You were talking about getting your knee down still? Some riders in green do that before they have moved up. Just saying

Looks like I'll be there. New to me SV1000 track bike, so I'll be taking 'er easy in the green group.

Great day today! Couple of raindrops (like 1 min drizzle) at about 2:30, then no rain until 6:30 or so, when it also became pretty cold. Less than 10 riders altogether, open track time! The group was kinda slow, made me feel fast, great for my self-esteem, hahah :D Those who decided not to go missed out, sorry for the news. Met some friends, overall---a great day! I'll post a video or two sometime tomorrow.

Yes, awesome day. Too bad the sketchy weather report scared off so many - for those of us who showed up it was a great opportunity to ride as much as we liked.

I learned: 1. Dunlop Q2s absolutely rock. 2. My new Brembo 4-pot calipers and XRAC pads are awesome. 3. I am even slower than last year, plus apparently more out of shape - I am stiff like an old man this morning.

Edit: I also have a fair bit of video - will try to stitch together the bits that show other riders, and post it up.

Had an awsome time, great group of riders (no track-day hero's). Took a couple of sessions, but ended up riding pretty good for the first time out. New brakes seemed to bed-in nicely !!
Calabogie next weekend, Yeah baby !!

I just realized....yesterday was the day of the twins. More than half the bikes there were 2-cyl - me on the Sport Classic, my brother on the Superchicken, Omar on the SV1000, that other fellow (sorry, don't know your name) on the 1098, and also someone on a Kawi 250.

I am not 100% sure about the "no track day heroes" comment - my understanding is that the 250 got run off the track by somebody.

Darren, on the 1098 :) and there was also a 748 that showed up later in the afternoon.

I didn't realize there was an incident with the 250, I just thought he went off the track on his own....

Oh that's you with the 1098...sorry! Now I know. I have some video of your little rear end slide coming out of 9.

I could be wrong about what happened to the 250 rider - just something someone said. I didn't see it.

YellowDuck, which one were you? I might have some video too. My camera quit on me at some point, but then I fixed it and have lots of footage. I was on the black gsxr with silver tank and big number 359 on the front and tail.

Was a great day. It was a good group of riders. Got a little slippy near the end of the day cause the track temp dropped but overall, a good day. Since there were so few riders, it gave people a chance to relax when they got a little tired and pick it up again a couple laps later. Open track is perfect for that. EMS didn't move once, A+ for that!
