Total loss on my bike...looking for the next one

+1 for the Z750S very fun bike...sport touring insurance ....109HP. Not fully fared though but there are faring kits if you feel you want to go that route.

Highly recommend a 5th gen VFR800 (1998-2001). No vtec like the 02-09, but in exchange you get gear driven cams which make it sound super sweet (think supercharged):

Ps: I think I saw your bike at snow city

LOL>..that's WAY outta my price range

Dude, you can't go dropping model names like "675R" and then flake out. This bike has your name written all over, it's just begging to be ridden in heels. Hell, show up in heels, your helmet and $8500 cash in hand, and with a li'l squishy squishy if ya know what I mean, the bike is yours!

Yeah I'm looking around at the vfr's now...my bud has one and I was drooling all over this summer lol

And if there was a nekkid chick with electrical tape on the tank pad and the custom plate "twnki", forks bend and twisted, headlight cracked and falling off? yeah that would be Quinn...I'm picking up my plate tonight...

.. and the fact that the company you work for has been bought out, and everyone is being shuffled out to new locations in 2 weeks or being handed pink slips.

Listen hear young lady, you need to start behaving much less responsibly and I mean now. Budgets are only good for retirement planning, but there's no way you'll get as much out of those extra few grand when you're old and decrepit, as you can get out of them now with this bike. If you continue to act mature and fiscally responsible then I don't know if we can continue to be friends.

Look at importing a VFR from the US. There are tons of VFR800's brand new down there for dirt cheap.

A good friend is looking to sell his VFR800. I think it's a 2006 or so, silver, no mods or anything that I know of. Never dropped/raced/abused. Not sure what he wants for it but could inquire. He is in London, Ont. but could arrange something.

Yeah that was it :p

For vfr's though, 98-01 is the best years. 02-09 do not have gear cams + the valve adjustments are a lot higher cost because of the vtec.

I like the CBF600. it seems to be a swell motorcycle. Not exactly a powerhouse, but I did read an article.. was it on CMG? Where they said the bike is still pretty fun on the track as well.

You would be best off contacting your insurer, and seeing if they have a list first. The decisions made by insurers make very little sense. For example Co-operators said that they wouldn't insure a Ninja 650r or ER-6n, but would insure a Versys or VFR800. The VFR is by far the most "sportbike" of the lot.

What's the deal with the VTEC engines in the VFR series anyways? All I keep hearing is how many problems they have

Valve adjustments on the vtec motor can cost upwards of $1600

That number sounds WAY out to lunch. Inspections are something like every 30,000 Km and this isn't like the car VTEC system. It's a very simplified variant.

Here's the 16,000 mile valve check bill from a guy in the U.S.

Yes.. almost $1700... without our cursed HST...

That means nothing. I was present when a friend was quoted a price for a 190 rear tire, in Alabama, that would have covered dealer price for a rear and two fronts, up here. Who has one, here, and has paid for a valve job?

Get a loan asap.
Personally, not a Triumph fan at all, but even at full asking price, that pictured bike (675R) is a steal of a deal.
If it can be had for $8500, I'll take a dozen.
You might find a new one for $15K, but probably closer to $17K.
