Total eclipse - April 8 2024

I don’t know much about skydiving but I imagine looking up instead of down when you’re hurtling towards the ground is counterproductive at times.
I was more thinking about early chute pop. Jump just before totality and pop the chute immediately (Noob style). Drift down through totality and light comes back before you land.

Apparently I was schooled by Reddit….apparently 99.6% and 100% are quite different.

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to go drive through traffic hell so I’ll live with my 99.6%.

Is looking up during an eclipse actually any worse than any other time??

Hold up a piece of cardboard to block the exposed side of the sun and use one eye so you don't roast your non-dominant eye. The neighbourhood won't be quite as dark but you should see the corona.

Easy peasy.

I have an extra spot in my driveway if anyone wants free parking in Hamilton to see the show. We're a quick and pleasant walk to Gage Park, which has some wide open fields that should be a decent spot to view...

Not a bad idea. Hopefully they sold out and have TCAS. The skies may get busy in the path of totality and being plunged into darkness is not ideal. Especially when half the people up there will be looking at the eclipse and not paying enough attention to flying.

My wife and daughter are flying home from FL on Monday. The end of their flight is on the eclipse path. They are scheduled to land 15:17 at Pearson, the eclipse is max at 15:17.

Wasn’t planned, just worked out that way. Wish I was on that flight.
