Toronto Motorcycle Show - February 17-19 2023

Goes to show their change in marketing and new models is working to attract a new customer base.
I’ve owned a lot of bikes over the years and have never even sat on a Harley! Today I did….couldn’t believe how heavy it was to lift off the kickstand…and I think a Multistrada is far more comfortable as well. My tailbone would have been in rough shape lol. Think it was a Street Glide? Not for me. Looks cool for what it is, though!

I was sitting on bikes by GP yesterday when someone dropped one of the $20k Ducs, mirror smashed, very dramatic, the guys just walked away heh...

try lifting a royal enfield 650 off the kickstand lol. way heavier than you'd expect for such a low powered machine.
sat on pretty much all the triumphs (1200cc speed twin down to the street triple), yamaha xsr700, etc etc and was amazed and how light they felt in comparison to my RE 650 lol.

also didnt realize there was provided bike parking literally right in front of the southwest side of the building.

Last time I was in at Twin City Cycle in KW they had one on the floor.
called Twin City Sat morning and it is gone, most dealers only get 2 each this spring

They had one from last year sitting all winter... sorry to have gotten your hopes up!

Attended the show yesterday and really enjoyed it
Stopped at the GTAM booth and had a nice chat with Wingboy

It was a pleasure to see and sit on all these different bikes, and had a great time despite some of the major manufactureres missing

Once again, the ticket prize was much appreciated!

But are we buying, or just sitting on them, making vroom vroom noises, talking about "I'll buy one of these in 2033, when the prices on the used market are reasonable."

Cause as a Night Rod owner of 5 years (sold it this season), I was very interested in the motor of the Nightster, along with that light pull clutch, similar power as my V-Rod, but 22% lighter in weight?! Sign me up!

I think that motor is f**** ugly. My V-Rod's was way nicer, but I'd be willing to overlook it in exchange for the lighter weight if power delivery was similar.

Then I saw the $17,000 price tag... so tax and licensing, I'm at $20,000 for an ugly bike.... I can fill my garage with some kick ass $5k-8k used bikes for that $20,000.

Bring back the V-Rod.P1070141.jpg

Nightster is a V-Rod that got hit with the ugly stick... and costs twice what I sold my V-Rod for

You know what my main takeaway was from sitting on the new Nightster?

"why does this bike have so many ******* buttons"

edit: Oh yeah, and thanks for the tickets!

Went by today, getting to actually comparison sit the bikes I was cross shopping, now I know I definitely made the right choice
Super helpful for my sister who’s getting her first bike to see the different bikes and get a chance to put a leg over see what she thinks she’ll be comfortable on, see how different bikes carry there weight.

And left with a new jacket and helmet … whoops

Was this around 6 PM ? My kids and I were looking at one of the Ducatis from a few feet away, and watched as a middle aged guy dropped it. I’m the background I could see Jeremy with his head in his hands, but I didn’t see anyone actually check the bike out.

The guy walked away soon after that but kept coming back.

This may have been closer to 7? It was a group of broskis, maybe 3 or 4. Maybe they dropped the same bike? Eesh...
I imagine the risk/reward of GP coming to these shows involves those drops. In saying that, by the end of the Friday they sold a new Duc street fighter and a V4 beside each other, and a couple others with "sold" signs on em

Hi Guys.. went to the Toronto Motorcycle Show on Sunday afternoon. I am giving it a solid 7.5/10. The venue and setup were great, had a wide selection of vendors (including dried sausage and caramel nuts LOL ) The Honda, Yamaha booths were 10/10 and was a feast for your eyes.. Other booths were also done well including CAN-AM and Suzuki, KTM etc... Of course it was a smaller show, only took 2 hours to walk through. But overall I got to see what I wanted to see.. lots of shiny new things and some cool parts and products.

I am not into the flea-market/ swap meet shows at the Airport ... thats just not my thing. Although I might attend that show next month to check out the gear and classic bikes.

The Toronto show would've been 10/10 if it had full factory Kawasaki, Ducati and BMW booths setup.

I went for a quick spin through on Sunday as we were already nearby, and agree on all fronts. Not amazing value when you include parking, but was nice to be back at a show again, and the manufacturers who did participate did offer the usual 'sit on the bike and make vroom-vroom noises' experience. As much as anything, we went to support the industry and do our (tiny) bit. The wife fell in love with the Rebel 500 (and the seafoam green Vespa with wicker top box), so we may have one of those in our future.

Shame on BMW, Ducati and Kawasaki for not joining in. If Suzuki can have one of the biggest booths, they have no excuse. Alternately, it was cool to see smaller or growing brands like Royal Enfield (huge booth) and Zero (via dealership).

I was chatting to an Aprilia rep, and he kept rushing over to the display models to put the kickstands back down despite them being in wheel chocks, so I guess the Ducati calamities were front of mind. Credit to Studio Cycle for repping Piaggio. Nice business cards, too...

i think they need to work on food options. i dont remember seeing much else than pizza pizza lol.

Curious to know if GP Bikes or any other gear vendors offered any show-specific discounts compared to walking in to their stores or buying from them online (GP had no HST that weekend, plus % off various items).
